I'm considering purchasing the sat radio kit to install on my 04 Sedan. The only thing I'm not sure about is what the display is going to show (and how it's going to show it) on the 1-line display in the G. The aftermarket units have 4 lines (i believe) of display for all the genre, artist, track, station info. Anybody have the stock unit hooked up and know how the display works (scrolling one line of info, not all info, etc.). If anyone has pics that would be awesome.

 

I've had my G for about a month and got the Sat SONY. I had the aftermarket with the 4 lines installed in my Vett. I loved how the artist station song etc.. would be displayed. Get ready for disapointment . The only thing that will show will be the Sat radio station thats it no scrolling no artist no nothin.
Get ready to try and remember what stations are what. Out of 100 I only have about 15 memorized and I've had it for almost a month.

With the factory intalled XM you can choose what gets displayed, the station
number, station name, artist or title.

 

does that go for the dealer installed version too? (ability to choose 1 of 4) or are you hosed if you add it after the fact?

The Infiniti SAT radio works like this. The default setting shows you the station number. IE, when you have it on one of the comedy channels, it shows "XM150". You can then scroll (by pushing a button) to get the title or artist name. You can also change the default setting, mine shows the artist name all the time. So, when I change channels, it comes up with the channel number (approx 1-2 seconds), then goes to the artist name. I can then scroll to the song title if I want. You change the default by going to the default setting you want (channel/artist/title) then pressing and holding the button until you here a beep. Also, the Infiniti display only shows 10 characters, and what you see is what you get. You can't get the entire name if it is longer than 10 characters....

I just want to confirm this...it will work like socalg35 posted above whether your car came with XM installed or if have it installed later?

 

The Sirius tuner I just installed (not by factory) works exactly the same way, I have mine locked on song title. I can't imagine that it would matter whether it came from the factory or not.

yeah it will work the same. The factory install is no different than if you do it yourself. The internals are the same.
