If you're just powering subs you can get by with a cheap amp. When you're dealing with low frequencies, watts are watts. So you don't need to spend a lot of money on some high-end name brand amp. Some may disagree though. You also shouldn't need a cap if you're not exceeding 500 watts. I'm guessing you're not because if you put 2 12s with more than 500 watts going to them with your factory stereo you're not going to hear much more than the bass. A cap isn't going to hurt your system at all and it can help the life of your battery. If you go with one the general rule is .5 farad for up to 500 watts and 1 farad up to 1000 watts.

Peak and RMS are to totaly diffrent things. For those I wouldnt push any more then 750 watts each as there RMS is around there if I remember correctly. If you run 1200 watts each just say by by subs and like 600 beans down the drain.

I would probably go with the Rockford 1500bd and get ready to be def.. Its a VERY good amp and will run 750 by 2 @ 2 ohms

Re: 2 kickers and amp question...

Yea its a mono amp but when you take (2) 4 ohm subs and run them together it will be a 2 ohm load witch will make 750 by 2 on a 1500 watt channel.

Glad I got an answer for him as I am struggling with my oun

Consider the JL Audio 1000/1 amplifier.

Re: 2 kickers and amp question...

resistance I believe. If a speaker is 4 ohms and have 2 then it is a 2 ohm load if bridged. If you didnt bridge then it would be a 4 ohm load. Then you got to see what your amp is rated at. If its 200 by 2 @ 4 ohms then if you bridge the amp it will be a 2 ohm load and will increase the power of the amp to 400 by 2. Make any sence??? Im sure there are some sound engineers out there that get a lil more technical..
