AVIC-Z1 ipod interface issues

I am currently using the cd-ib100ii Pioneer ipod adapter to connect my 80GB 5th Gen. ipod to the Z1. The problem I'm having is that the ipod freezes often when connected to the Z1. When this happens, the screen on the Z1 goes blank, and the screen on the ipod changes from the Pioneer screen to the apple. I then have to turn the ipod on and off several times in order to get it to work again. I have all the latest firmware updates on my ipod. I've searched on the avic411.com forums but it doesn't look like anyone else is having this issue.

For those of you with the Z1 and the ipod adapter, have you experienced any issues similar to this? If so were you able to find a fix for it?

I'm not sure if the size of the drive and the number of songs makes any difference, but my 4gb ipod mini works perfectly fine with the Z1 and hardly ever freezes up.

Any input on this would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Pat

I have never experienced this issue... I have never had any issue's with the IPOD connection.. You can start from the beginning, double check the cable, connector, etc... Then try to determine if its the Z1 or the IPOD.

Already checked all cables, connections, etc. I even wiped out everything on my ipod and loaded everything back for a fresh start. It is sporadic though, some days it will play without freezing for hours, and then some days it freezes up every few minutes. I guess I may just have to live with it.

If you don't mind me asking how many songs are on your ipod. 80Gigs is huge and if you have enough songs on it to fill it the ipod might just be to much for the System to handle somestiome when you connect it.

I only have about 6800 songs on there at the moment, but I also have movies, music videos, tv shows on there as well. This all adds up to about 60 gb.

Talking

Oh you're doing a lot!! I would not be surprised if it is having issues trying to process through that on the link up or during the link up. I have a 30gb whick holds my entire library, but I use my 8gb nano soley for my car becuase it carries my hitz. Ipod tech is starting to leave the aftermarket HU in the dust. I'm still reserching like everyday to decide on a DD head unit mainly for ipod funtionality. everything else is just extra ie. dvd, nav, etc. You may have to jump on the phone to get this fixed.

That's what I figured, which sucks, since the main reason I wanted the 80gb ipod was to be able to put my whole library of songs in the car.

I have last year's 60gig hooked up to my Z1, and I have not even had one problem yet. I wonder if it has to do with the firmware in the new iPods...

One thing I didn't mention about the ipod locking up...it always occurs in between songs, and never during a song. With the interface so slow, I often skip tracks under random mode within a playlist to find a song I want to listen to. This is when the freeze typically occurs. If I just select a playlist (or no playlist at all) and let it play the tracks and never hit the next track button, it does not freeze.
