Need Help...

Hey everyone, i just installed the Avh-6800 pioneer double din its a really cool unit! but i have run into a few problems. I also have a 500/1 with a 10w6d4v2 in a 4080 inclosure. Now for the problems... 1) I want to retain the steering wheel controls so i went to 6th ave and bought the peripheral unit that will allow me to do that, now i dont even know which wire im supposed to tap for the steering wheel controls, anyone know where this wire is located, or have any experience with this unit(i know many people use the pac unit). 2) i grounded the e-brake wire and it will allow me to play dvd's but wen i turn the car off and then back on it wont let me play it again so i keep having to pull the wire and re-ground the wire, i was thinking i will either need a switch or a automatic relay so i went out to Radio shack and bought one, i have yet to install it. That will probably be later tonight. This should solve my problem right? 3) The sub is hitting insanely hard... like its kinda making my friends ears hurt.... and they love audio as much as i do... i think its gona blow soon what needs to be changed on the amp? 4) The sub dose not come on right away. It comes in after a few seconds of play. I roped the rear seat to see if its turning on and its even turning on late. Any suggestions? its still hooked up to the factory amp, must i hook it up to the head unit? 5) The sound quality isnt that great, do i need to tune the head unit? 6) While playing dvd's its not that loud. What do i do?

Anyone?? I learned that the Relay dose not work, i need some type of time delay or a time delay relay. after doing some research i found Ducatiboys hack or i could do my own circuit with a 100uF cap and a 50K risistor and just be done with it. I think thats what i may end up doing. Anyone have any other ideas for the other problems?

What makes you think your about to blow a 10W6v2 off of a 500/1? That shouldn't blow it. I had 600RMS watts from a Phoenix Gold amp going to my 12W3v2 and it was fine. JLs can definatley handle more than what they claim. The delay might be your remote.

do you have the bose or non bose? If you have the non bose like I do then hell yeah there is remote strait from the deck. You could even tap the remote into one of your cigarette or 12V power outlets and not even take the deck apart if you want to. They only come on when you turn your ignition on, same thing basically. May save you some time. I think you'll be fine with the power to the subs though, just make sure your not throwing crazy frequencies at it. Your amp is pretty much made for your specific sub.

The head unit should definitely have a remote turn on for the amp. What remote out are you looking for the sub?

Yeah the remote, i think there may be one on the wire harness. Another thing, the 6800 is supposed to have awesome sound quality, identical to the Z1(which is supposed to be really good). I was told the difference was the Z1 has built in nav and a crappy hard drive (that rips low quality songs). I was told to if nav wasnt important, to go with the 6800. When i play my music loud it begins to distort. What are your eq settings at? Thanx!

1. I'm pretty sure the wire harness for the steering wheel controls is near the back of the factory headunit. I know it was once attached to the head unit with a harness leading back to the steering wheel controls.
5. The lack of sound clarity/quality may be from your door speakers. are they stock? Remember you can only get as good of sound as your speakers will interpret. If they are stock then definatley get some more because mixing a JL 12" with the factory speakers will not produce the results you are after, trust me.
