Ohms...

Im about to install my sub and amp, but I ran into a small issue. Do I want to configure the sub to be 2 ohms or 8 ohms? Thanks

Andrew

Try cardomain's subwoofer wiring config: http://www.cardomain.com/shop/woofer..._subs=4%20ohms

it depends on what your amp can handle. most likely you want to configure it for a 2ohm load if your amp can handle that

is your sub a dual voice coil sub and what are the resistances on the individual voice coils, that will determine which configurations you can achieve

The 500/1 features JL Audio's "Regulated Intelligent Power Supply". It is intended to maintain consistent, linear power output. The 500/1 is rated @ 500WRMS 1.5-4.0 ohms. I'm not sure it's rated for an 8-ohm load. You should be running the voice coils in parallel to present a 2-ohm load to the amp.

Yeah, I needed to know if your VCs were D4 or D2, but to get a 2ohm resistance, wire them in parallel, which means hooking positive to positive and negative to negative, and then connecting to the amp. Easiest way to do this is the connect 2 short wires to each of the positive and negative connections, and then running the longer wire to the amp from one of the voice coils
