Question for those w/ Aftermarket Speakers.....
Is it a smart move to:
1. Dynamat your doors (adds about $100 to my install) but I hear from some people it's worth it on G's.
2. Use foam baffles for the component speaker's woofer??? I guess this protects the woofer and helps make bass tighter?
Any help on this would be great, have not received any good unbiased feedback on this yet. Just info from stores selling these products!!

Definitely put some form of sound deadening, both in the doors, and in the trunk. The front driver and passenger area helps as well. It all cuts down on the road noise.
As for the baffles; foam makes the size of the box the speaker is in (whether it is a seperate box/kick panel, or the door airspace) seem larger to the speaker, as the foam slows the sound down. It can help, or it can hurt. It all depends on the individual speaker, and what airspace it "likes" to see. I don't know enough about speakers to know how much airspace they need, but there are some other members who know more, and might be able to help.

Once you sound deaden, you'll never go withot Trust me, your midbass will always only get better, but also the road noise coming from the ground at freeway speeds is completely eliminated. It's a bonus but your car's cabin will get noticeably quieter, help against rattles in addition to making your music sound much more accurate.

Dynamat isn't just to reduce outside noise. It helps to prevent sonic harmonics by damping your car's metal body panels, which vibrate and make their own sound waves that cancel out your music to some extent.
Have you ever had two subs and wired one out of phase? The bass was significantly decreased because they canceled each other. Your car's body parts do the same, especially large, flimsy metal panels.
BTW, there are less expensive alternatives to Dynamat.
