I am using the Xenarc.... if anybody is interested I can get you pretty good price as they are sponsoring me.
Chirowolf... check out iGesture's mini keyboard. Probably a way to make it wireless, smaller foot print, and mouse action built in. Also, how did you wire the "ON" switch of the PC? Or does automatically boot with key on?

OK, alist of parts

7in LCD bare touch screen kit from Digitalww.com $380 (made screen enclosure by buying aluminium picture frame pieces from local picture frame shop and cutting them to fit the screen perfectly so teh screen would fit into the cubby, I had to cut out the bottem of the cubby to fit the screen in. Everything fits perfectly and I can close the cubby door all the way. At first I planned on putting a motorized screen in, but there is just not enough room that I could find. The screen is held inplace by a small bungie cord mounted to the screen and to the inside of the cubby. the screen is very secure, yet is still easy to fold back into the cubby. the touch screen connects to the CPU by standard USB, the computer treats the touchscreen like a mouse.

Re: Carputer project finished
Fist of all i want to start off by saying that's hot!!!!
ive been wanting to do the same type of mod but i wanted 2 get some feed back. and there's been a couple of things ive been worried about
(1) will all the bouncing around make the dvd drive skip and will it make the hard drive crash from the shaking of the driving?
(2) wont cold weather build condensation on the mother board and mess up the computer?
(3) would have been the whole shutting down and starting up issue but u all ready tackled that one with the dc to dc set up
(4) where did u get this stuff from for this price "if u don't mind me for asking "

Re: Carputer project finished
I had some concerns about vibration so I mounted the harddrive and the DVD with some rubber bushing and have had no problems. I have even writen a CD while driving without problems.
Condensation usually occurs whith rapid chang in temp. by placing the CPU in the trunk I hope to keep the build up of mosture down. i also mounted five small bags of silica pelets inside the case to obsorb mosture
As for the prices for the components. I bought everthing except the power supply and screen from, believe it or not, www.tigerdirect.com. most of the prices were as cheep as teh wholesalers I use for computer parts and was able to do one stop shopping
