Time to upgrade my systems...

Sub:

2 JL 10W6V2 or 1 JL 10W7? or should I try the elemental Designs e10A

BTW, I have been using the Kicker VS8L7 Solo-Baric Loaded Box

Speakers:

I am currently using Soundstream Exact 6.3, I was going to upgrade to focal, however my music tastes range from Trance to Hip-Hop to Classical & Jazz... and I felt focal will not play that well with Trance type of music...

Has anyone have any experience with CDT Audio HD series?

Thanks!!!!

Re: Time to upgrade my systems...

CDT Audio has a very laid back sound. I would not want that set for hip hop. Have you considered rainbow audio? They have some sets that sound great on pretty much everything you would listen to. www.rainarc.com.

As for the sub, I will be using a pair of e10a's. I would have gotten the w7 subs, but they need large enclosures and i wanted a pair of 10's. Of the choices you listed, i would take the 10w7. if you want a pair of subs, go with a pair of e10a's. a pair of 10w7's might not work well with teh limited space in this trunk adn the w6v2's imo are not as good as the e10a's.

Re: Time to upgrade my systems...

I have set of focal utopia compnonent for the front and rear. I listen to both vocal and trance. Majority of the time, trance because i need some wake up call in the morning. I actually think it can handle pretty well cause for the 165w in the front, i cut the frequency at 50 with 12db. Man it can handle the bass no problem. The rear i cut off at 100 with 12db. Anything below 100 hz is feeding to the JL audio 10w6v2.

so don't worry about whether the focal can handle or it.

Re: Time to upgrade my systems...

Thanks for the info

One of my tweeter blew today, I guess this will be an excuse for me to change my speaker now... I have my sight on Focal 165K2P...

You think I should go with focal for the back? or leave it to soundstream for the time being?

As for sub, I will have to save a little longer...

The back, leave it alone. I don't know about you but when i listen to music, i only listen to the two front channel. The only time i use the rear is when watching Dolby Digital or DTS movie. Now and day, multi channel music is getting a lot of attention.

Re: Time to upgrade my systems...

im not a fan of pg components. I've heard that the Ti elite series comps are good, but they are pricy and there are better alternatives such as morel and rainbow audio.

Re: Time to upgrade my systems...

True...

Which Rainbow series would you recommend? I have limited my choices to:

1. Focal 165K2P or Utopia, probably K2P
2. Dynaudio 240GT 6.5" Component Set
3. Rainbow ????
4. CDT HD62

The sound line is pretty good, but might be a little more than the options you listed.

The CDT HD series is good. Get the carbon fiber limited edition set from www.thezeb.com if you get those.

Take a listen to DLS components.. www.dls-america.com or www.dls.se

They're having great results in compeition and many of the magazines place them against speaker that cost 4-8 times more - they're that good.
