Re: Double Din-ANSWER!!!

I just got done installing my Alpine IVA-D900 and I just wanted let everyone know that that the best bracket to get is the 28038-AL-700. I ordered the AL-510 based on the description and it turns out to not have the top mount used to hold the dash face to the bracket. It also appears to have better mounting holes to allow one to flush the unit to the dash. My unit sticks out about .75 inches. I might order the AL-700 or have someone drill the stock bracker for me. I don't trust myself to get the alignment correct and you can't drill over and over again. Right now I am happy to have the radio in.

Re: Double Din-ANSWER!!!

The Alpine sounds great. The stock head unit does compare in sound. The MediaXpander feature brings the most out of the stock speakers. I will change the speakers in a couple of months. I have to wait for my next bonus. I have three small complaints about the Alpine

1) IR remote does not work when you have a remote plugged into the 1/8 inch receptical in the rear.

2) Unit only supports ID3 Tags v1.

3) You can only choose to have the screen auto open or auto close it will not do both.

The instant you put a DVD in you forget about these issues because this is the best display of its kind on the market. The Kenwood, Pioneer and Clarion don't even come close.l

Re: Double Din-ANSWER!!!

I'm looking to install the pioneer nav/dvd/mp3 system [nav-sys910dvd] which will need the double din. My car came navless, but I want to install the OEM Nav bracket w/ the sliding Nav pop up (into which I will put the new lcd). My question is whether the double din w/ nav will work out for my car although my car came nav-less and whether or not this is a feasible idea/

Re: Double Din-ANSWER!!!

i can't answer yes or no because i don't have that setup. But the link below might give you some more information about the factory lcd.

in theory, you should able to do so.

Re: Double Din-ANSWER!!!

I ordered the AL-510. So besides having to screw my own holes are there any other issues with that bracket? Does everything else fit fine with it? Will i be able to use both dins and put two different units in them? Ya'll got me worried now.

Re: Double Din-ANSWER!!!

Beyond the missing top mount to hold the dash to the bracket, the bracket is fine. I would recommend you use your stock bracket and drill holds to mount the radio flush. I am going to drill holes in my stock bracket to flush the radio to the dash.

Re: Double Din-ANSWER!!!

In the non premium system you only need the wire harness to make the stock speakers work. I don't know about the premium system. You will also need an antenna adapter. You can make the steering wheel controls work with an aftermarket radio if you use the SWI-X from PAC. I used one in my car to control my Alpine. The instructions provided with the SWI-X are accurate.
