Re: Double Din-ANSWER!!!

Once he order it, it should take less than a week for Yoshi to recieve the part. Afterward, it takes another 1 week to arrive to the US. So approx. 2 weeks after your place the order.

Re: Double Din-ANSWER!!!

i dont think its alpine at all, it might be, but i dont think alpine puts their logo in the middle of the faceplate, and isnt the F1 chrome faced, those look black, it still looks great tho.

Re: Double Din-ANSWER!!!

that display look like a panasonic head unit. I am just guessing base on the color of the display. I've seen on a VW because they use Panasonic equipment.

Re: Double Din-ANSWER!!!

So...
Just to sum up all the required parts to do the upgrade:

a) Double Din Center Console
b) AC Control Panel
c) The bracket to mount the aftermarket "device"
d) The cover or pocket to cover extra hole (if needed)
e) The wiring harness for the speakers???
f) SWI-X from PAC (if you want to still use the steering wheel remote)
g)Antenna adapter???
h) Lots of patience...

Am i missing anything???

Where do i get the speakers wiring harness from?

What type and from where do i get the antenna adapter?

Do you also need a wiring harness fo the radio? or do we just snip away wires and look for the right one?

Thanks!

S.

Re: Double Din-ANSWER!!!

Hey g35mt, thanks!!! and yes that helps a lot!!!

One more question though...

Does anybody have the stock radio wiring diagram? or how did everybody find the right wires to hook up the aftermarket radio? just grabbed a multimeter and started looking for power, speakers, acc, etc, etc.???

Thanks!!!

Re: Double Din-ANSWER!!!

I don't know why you would want to use stock speaker wire if you planning to upgrade. The power wire, yeah just use the multimeter. I think you should get the wiring harness, that way you don't need the multimeter plus easier too.

Also, make sure that when you remove the rear seat, don't start the car with the seat off. That can trigger the air bags light to go on. If you happen to forget, there is a thread here how to reset the light.

good luck and take pictures once you are done. Hey if you can, take the picture of the step u took to install the double din. Last time i did it, i didn't have the camera with me. I want to create a step by step documentation on how to install the Double din. This is so other member can use it.

Re: Double Din-ANSWER!!!

Thanks for the feedback/advice!

I'll most definitely try to take pictures so a little DIY manual can be done. =)

Thanks again.

Re: Double Din-ANSWER!!!

what is the SWI-X from PAC?
and just to get this straight, if i only want to connect a headunit (meaning i will have one blank hole), and i have no nav, i should get the AL710 right? not the AL700 or AL510, but the AL710 right right right?

Re: Double Din-ANSWER!!!

oh yea, one more thing, if i were to go to Japan, where would I get these things? is there a way to order the items i need here in the US, and have them ready for pick-up or have them mailed to an address in Japan for me? much cheaper.
