Hey guys,
Well I have decided to get the AVIC-D3 for my 03 coupe. I have the Bose premium sound system. I have done a lot of searches and I get mixed ideas.
I read all the info on how you have to do a lot of extra wiring to add a aftermarket unit and keep your BOSE speakers.
Should I replace all the speakers inside the G as well, and if so which ones would people here recommend
OR
If i bought this and hooked it up to keep my BOSE speakers and amp, would it work:

Which route would people here recommend. I appreciate the help

I am looking to keep this under $1500. I can get the AVIC-D3 for $800, plsu the DD Kit and AC Adapter im at $1100 there.
I guess im wondering if i put that unit in and keep the BOSE speakers, will it sound OK?

Replace them. You're going to want to do it after you upgrade your system. After you buy all of the adapters and crap to make your Bose work with your aftermarket gear you're really not saving much by keeping the Bose. Do it all at once and do it right. It's better to wait a month or two if needed to save up some more money than have to rip your car apart twice or not be happy with it.
Yea, im thinking im going to buy the speakers and just do it all. When I add the AVIC-D3 and the new speakers, will the BOSE amp become usless?? ( I would assume I would be just powering the new speakers from the AVIC_D3)

Like Meatshackle said save your money and do everything at once, that's your best bet. Since you already know which head unit your gonna use now decide on speaker and an amp. and also decide if you want to add a sub. The subwoofer and its amp can be done latter on but run all wire just in case. Also buy a good set of speakers such as CDT or Ed you will be very happy. Thats what I did
Do I need to add an aftermarket amp when i add the unit and speakers? OR will the AVIC-D3 power the new speakers.
Thanks for all the help. A newbie to car audio

The AVIC could power the speakers but it won't be the same as using an aftermarket amp.
OK Last question:
I am goign to buy an amp to power the speakers. I can get Kicker speakers for dirt cheap through a connection. My question is Crutchfield says my speakers size is 6-3/4 and front and side panels, and 6x9 in the back. When i select this size in the Kicker speakers, Crutchfield says they will not fit?? Should I buy 6-1/2?? Should I skip the 6x9 replacement?
These are the 6-3/4 I am looking at. I can get them in 6-1/2

6.5 front and rear. Don't forget the spacers for front and rear.
I'd skip the 6x9s.
I'd skip the 6x9s.

I would go with a set of components for the front stage. You can get the spacers from zenclosure on ebay.
