i would suggest buying a mikes mirror mount and hardwire it to your mirror.

In my Z I had the Escort Passport SRX, the laser shifters saved me 3 times in 2 years. The radar receiver is bigger than most window mounted Radar Detectors. I had only 120 miles on my G35c when I took off the from clip and installed a Bel RX75 Pro, which is almost exactly the same as the SRX. 2 major differences, on threat mode, the SRX would show be up to 3 KAs, 3 Ks and 4 Xs at the same time with little bar graphs. The Bel will only show you the highest strength signal in each band, but still does show Ka and K threats at the same time with a number up to 9. The second major difference, about $1000! You can get the Bel RX75 Pro for around $500. Bell calls the Laser Jamming Blocking verse shifting. From installing 4 kits now, 2 of each, I can tell you they are exactly the same. The Bel actually has a better looking display, but the SRX shows more info. I went with the BEL, very well spent $500.

I have not yet taken the time to finish my DIY, but I do have all the pictures from my G's install. When you look at the front of my car, you can barely see the shifters, but I did cut the "honey cone" area on both sides and they do have a clean view at the road ahead. The picture would explain it better. My little display sits behind my steering wheel and is so slim I can still see all my gauges.

This is with out a doubt the best protection. As we all know, we only feel like we are doing 45, and the speedo says we are going a little quicker. And the best part, no one knows i have a radar detector. I drive on to a military base every day, it just looks like I have a turbo timer.

This is the best way to hard wire a radar detector and laser jammer!

Search is your friend.

Get off ur rear end and do some legwork for your question. Over time there have been several threads about this.

Look up in the diy area. Use different wording in your search. Don't be specific to the detector you're using etc.

If it's around, it probably will be on Driver. Good luk with it.

Pretty cool mounting option. But at my old store (higher end area) we would etch them in the rear view mirror.

Check out the rear view mirror. SR7 &ZR3
