in the process of hardwiring my V1

Hey guys, i have my ash tray out of my car right now and im trying to figure out how to have the conealed display put in so the ash tray can open and close. The concealed piece fits fine but its the wire that goes to the concealed display im worried about.

heres a few pictures to show where im at. I just dont know where I should be drilling so that plug to the wire can fit into the concealed display and im still able to open and close the tray.

any help would be most appreciated thank you

I know quite a few people have posted about this exact setup. Didn't you post about this before? The people who posted in that other thread should be able to assist you https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...cealed+display

As for where to drill... I'd suggest watching how the back opens and closes to see whether it would hang up anywhere...

umm.. lol its a concealed display, your confusing it with the actual radar detector. the radar detector is up on my passenger visor. the concealed display isnt searching for a signal, its simply there to show the symbols instead of the main piece..

can only help me out with this

lol I laughed when I read that, you might have to make a slit rather than a hole because if I remember correctly the piece swivels inside itself. If you create a slit that the wire will not get picked when it closes. Maybe tomorrow I will take mine out and look for you

thank god we have intelligent people here, i was beside myself a few hours ago reading this stuff

the whole issue im having is the damn wire has that bulky end(as shown in the picture) so i need to make a hole so it can fit in it and plug into the side of the concealed piece

I dunno im like doing an overkill on this lol

could someone just show me exactly what your end result looks like so we can call it a day?

hopefully all of you, especially cruisngcoupe will be so kind

you don't have to use the bulky cord they supply you with. I sure as hell don't! It sticks out like a ****. Just pick up a regular black phone cord and run that to your hardwire kit. The regular plug will be very small compared to the Valentine cord.

i did something very similar with my 2004. i removed the actual ash "tray" from inside there this way when i go back to stock you won't see the holes i made... i drilled 2 holes in the back of the ashtray plastic and ran zipties thru them and thru the holes in the back of the concealed display unit.

i used a standard telephone cord (try to find the thin flat kind), drilled the hole in the bottom left of the ashtray, plugged in the cord, and pushed it as far to the left as i could and ziptied thru those holes... as you can see, the phone cord is almost invisible, but my whole setup can come out by just cutting those 2 zipties in the back. i think the trick to keeping the ashtray assembly moving properly is putting the wiring thru the BACK of the ashtray piece, not the side.

(and incase you're wondering, the big red button is not the "noz" or the ejector seat lol, it's just the override switch for my AV Electronic nav tuner. lets me kill the video on my navi screen if the police are around.
