Navigation Hack

Does anyone know if the nav dvd is dual layer? If it's not dual layer, I bet it would be pretty easy to break up the contents of the dvd, delete the annoying "click to accept" screen, and reburn the dvd so that we never have to click "accept" again. That would make the nav system a helluva lot less annoying.

If anyone has found out a way to fix this problem already, please let me know!

Re: Navigation Hack

while you think of a way to hack the "click to accept" can you also think of a way to add some updates in that dvd to make the navi play movies?

Re: Navigation Hack

It's actually really easy to get the system to play DVDs...I hear all you really have to do is cross a wire. I'll post how to do that in a few days. For now, does anyone know if the DVD is dual layer?

Re: Navigation Hack

Bro if you have the knowledge of "hacking this player" you should know how to check if a disc is dual layer or not with the correct utilities. Otherwise forget it

p.s. Most likely that "click to accept" window is integrated into the firmware, not the software. This chip probably has no means of decoding any mpeg format data, it meerly only reads dvd data. Kind of like how a computer's dvd drive rom works. In order to watch a movie you're using software to emulate the decoder. This decoder software most likely isn't even there.

Re: Navigation Hack

the "click to accept" does look like it's firmware. The player recognizes there's the correct formatted DVD in the player then goes to the "click to accept" screen". It's an "If then" or "else" statement in the programming.

so whose going to release the decoder so this navi will play movies? It's been over a year now and no one has released it. Lexus already has a way to play movies in their stock navi.

doesn't the Lexus RX330 have the dvd-entertainment system wired into the Navi screen so you can watch dvd when you're in Park???

Re: Navigation Hack

I'm personally tired of looking at the same magazines while waiting for my ladie in the Salon. I wouldn't mind it if they didn't talk about the same people over and over. I swear there's always something about Big Booty, Fake Boobie and Always Changing Booby(J LO, Agalera girl and Spears).

Re: Navigation Hack

My salesman said that he had info about how to get the nav to play DVDs...apparently one of the customers emailed the dealership w/ instructions on how to do it. I'm not sure if he's full of crap or not, but when I pick up my G in a few weeks I'll post what I know.

Re: Navigation Hack

Go to www.avelectronic.com.
Purchase the DVD/TV Tuner Box about $495.00 before shipping and install.

It's going to be illegal in 2004 to have a DVD Movie or TV running in the front in (CA). There's a toggle switch so when "po-po" pulls up just hit the button to switch over to NAV. You'll be investing an extra $1,000 or so for labor and a good DVD/PS2/XBOX system.

It's a lot of fun watching movies when you're stuck in traffic - LOL GOOD LUCK!
