How awesome, my 10W7 decided to seize up!!
my 10W7 randomly decided to seize up on me, its fully back with NO give, it just feels like a solid wall. Its running off of a JL 500/1 which some would say is under-powering it, and its in the JL ported box which had the sub installed into it at time of purchase.
School just went out, and summer is here, what great time for it to freeze up on me, any suggestions to fix it?? i'm guessing since i installed it, there is no warranty i've had it for about 10 months..... but it was installed into the box when i purchased so im hoping JL will honor the warranty on it.
Im not really in a position to go out and buy another 10W7 so i need help on fixing it pleeez??

That sucks. Sounds like your amp was turned up too much and you sent some nice AC into it. I have done that to dozens of subs.
The only way to fix it is to send it back to JL for a re-build. If it is only 10 months old why don't you have warranty?

im good on that, i purchased everything from an authorized dealer!! im gna go speak to them tomorrow, see what they say...... i just found out somethign interesting, as i used American Express, they extend the manufactures warranty on products fully purchased using the card!!
I also have a 10w7 running off of the 500/1. IMO, i think that your amp might be bad. Even though the green power light is on, it may be blown. Friend had the same problem and his amp went bad. Most likely your sub isn't blown. 500/1 is no where near the range that a w7 would blow. You should contact JL and ask if your warranty is valid for your amp. You can send your amp in and they can tell you whats wrong with it. If warranty is valid, theyll send you a new one.

Might be too late, but try selling it on ebay, sometimes people with warranties will buy them to swap them out via JL. There has always been a good market for crapped out W7s on there. BTW ttrank I think you mean sending it DC current... since normal audio signal is AC and clipped signal turns into spurts of DC.
Push on the sub and see if you get grinding noises or no movement at all. If the sub moves with no noise and the resistance tests OK, then check out the amp on something else. Good luck.
