I have a Kenwood DDX7015 and the ipod control interface is terrible. My HU with an external media control, not IPOD ready. I've been looking around for a new HU, single or double din, I just want a good unit with an excellent IPOD controller, as I listen to basically nothing else other than my ipod and 5V preouts is a bonus. I was looking at the following:

Kenwood KVT819
Kenwood DDX8019
Clarion MAX675VD
Clarion VRX775VD
Alpine IVA-D310

Any opinions or experiences would be greatly appreciated. I've tried searching the form and the only article I came across was for the MAX675VD.

Kenwood DNX7100. That works awesome with the iPod as long as you have the right cable. Its basically the iPod interface on the HU. Searches are super quick and you get all the same info you have on the iPod. Even shows album art if you have it, but it is small.

Do you know if the interface on your DNX7100 is similar to the one on the DDX8019?

thanks!

The new Eclipse 5510 and 6610 both full IPOD control and have 5v pre-outs. The new Clarion units seem to have an excellent IPOD interface as well, but don't know much else about them...I got the Eclipse 5500 thinking it was full control also since it wasn't specified, but I got pwned. And I can definitely relate, the partial IPOD control blows! Definitely need to upgrade to full control in the future.

Most aftermarket head units will control Ipods now or at least provide the option of purchasing the add on piece that will allow you to.

I have no idea, but it rocks. Basically imagine all your iPod menus on a screen in front of you. You search the same way, all the same playlists, and you can switch between vids and music.

This is true, however I am seeking a HU with a rock solid interface/controls on the screen of the HU. My Kenwood 7015 will play my Ipod but only will display the song name and I can only skip tracks, I am unable to browse my ipod with the unit.

I have an Apline 9857 that has iPod "Full Speed" controls, extremely fast interface with the iPod. (just wish this head unit was in Amber, but the 2007 models are).DOMO

I have the Clarion MAX675VD, great iPod interface, access to all iPod functions on screen including repeat, shuffle, playlists, sort by artist, sort by album, etc.

All i got is a Monster controller than you plug into your cigarette lighter and it plays through your radio. Works VERY well.
