Backup camera recommendations
#122
^^You'll need tvandnav2go to use a camera on a stock setup. Look it up via google, their shop is in NY. I got mine for 200 picked up and it is plug and play. All it is is a unit that interfaces with ur stock screen to allow for video playback. It has 2 inputs, one for the backup camera and one for regular viedo input. You will still need a pa-11 unit if you want sound for the second video source. I still have it even after I upgraded to a double din-I wanted a dual video screen and I like the reverse cam to show on the nav screen since it is higher up....anyway I use an eBay ccd NTSC camera, the small round one u drill into the bumper to install. Small discreet and an excellent pic, cost 105 shipped. Avoid CMOS cameras because the picture is inferior.

hope someone can help me with this issue.
im close to purchasing a 2007 g35 sedan sport, but it doesnt have the coveted back up cam. im wondering if its possible to install a backup cam thats identical to the factory issued version, and how much im looking at spending. need to make a decision in the next 6 hours, much thanks for any input.

I don't know about coveted, the sedan has good enough rear visibility that it's not that big of a deal.
The only camera identical to the stock one is the stock one. To add it, you'll need at the very least:
Chrome trunk lip piece
Camera
(possibly) trunk button
Harness
The other problem runs into whether the non-backup cam a/v/info unit works with the camera or if you'd have to replace that as well.
The simpler stock-look solution?
Relocate or go without the trunk button, and get a small camera (there's a surprisingly large amount of room where the stock trunk button went) that fits in there. Use your mounting method of choice ("Sculpy" clay would probably work well here) and run through either the stock video in RCA jack (modded to display video while in reverse).

thanks for your help guys.
well, i just purchased it. 07 G35S sedan. its my first nissan/infiniti....i hope it meets my expectations! Im going to look into the aftermarket rear cam replacing the trunk button option. i called the dealer and they told me that its not possible to install the cam or sensors unless it came with the car from the factory. bummer.
well, thanks again!

You'll need an adapter more expensive than a standalone screen to make it work.

You seem very happy with your model and I would like to get the same!

I didn't know it'll be more expensive to use the backup camera on the oem nav.
I will consider a standalone screen as well.
I was thinking of getting the tvandnav2go.
Do you recommend anything in particular as far as standalone screen and/or backup camera?
