Sub cable entering trunk compartment:

Signal cable routing:

System ground:

Speaker cable run (Driver side):

Speaker and power cable run (Passenger side):

Finished up the battery compartment:

And onto the fun stuff....
Fan switch:

And the TRUNK!!!! Cept for the custom OEM carpet...it is DONE!!!!!!

More to come over the weekend!

You are going to be a hard person to beat at IASCA finals this year
What division are you competing in? I just got bumped up to semi-pro street because I picked up Tru Technology as a sponsor.

Welp. The car is back together. And it sounds waaaaay better than it should for being at this stage. I can't wrap my head around how it will actually sound *better* tomorrow.
Here's what I will leave you with for the day...

I refurbished the beaten kicks. Fixed some minor damage...Texture-coated, color-coated, then clear-coated. They look *almost* like new.
More to come.

Beautiful, simply beautiful.
That is an amazing install, you should be very very prowd. I assume from the comments you compete, thats cool.
I have a few questions about your install, how did you get the "Zapco" design done on the plexiglass? Did you have to take the panel to a shop and have it laser etched then painted, or is it just a decal?
Also, you didn't really mention in detail what happened at the end. A smart person could probably deduce that you had it professionally tuned. Is that right?
People underestimate the quality of good amps in an audio install, I was blown away when I switched over to my US Amps amps from my hifonics/infinity amp combo. Night and day difference with the same speakers.
I am drooling over how good your stereo must sound. Enjoy!

Thanks Mapester.
The Zapco logo is laser etched onto the back-side of an acrylic panel. The panel has 4 leds providing the edge lighting.
Yes. You deduced correctly. I took the car to Jeff Smith for its first tune.
I bet those USAmps are nice!

Bringing back an old thread but I just had to comment, awesome install man. Cant ever go wrong with zapco
I have a question, for your sub boxes is that little brackets on the lower portion to mount them down? I think I saw that in one of the pictures and I need to figure something out with my sub boxes, if I put up my stereo at decent volumes my w6's manage to shift 1 of my sub boxes (driver side) a good 1" which is annoying because it even untucks it from the rubber trim in the trunk. Was trying to think of a good stealth way of keeping it in place.
Very nice job man congrats on the iasca result also!

hey milox, it seems you're pretty knowledgeable in audio, and i am NOT(LOL), so what do you think i should get for some more bass on my non-bose system? you dont have to name brands, but it would help. i want to add some deep bass that really hits you in the chest, but have NO idea what to get, and i dont want to go as far as you did, it seems VERY expensive with what you did. Awesome install btw!
I'll do my best MIA...
The thing that makes me a bit concerned about just recommending a subbass solution is your comment that you want something that really hits you in the chest. You are going to get that most of that sensation from mid bass drivers playing with authority rather than just the sub.
But since you asked about a sub... here's my Good, Better, Best scenario:
Good:
Elemental Designs 9.2X Amplifier $275
Elemental Designs 11kv.2 Sub $90
Elemental Designs pre-fab box for 11kv.2 $115
Solid products from a solid company. All for under $500... with a 5 YEAR WARRANTY.
Better:
Zapco i-force I-2100 $373 (Retail)
Elemental Designs 11Ov.2 Sub $155
4080 Enclosure $300ish? (Check with Ainslie)
This scenario gives you better SQ with the O series driver, a SQ amplifier with balanced inputs (Noise rejection) and a cosmetically integrated box. I would not expect to pay retail for the Zapco amp. Check with your local dealer. They will be willing to work with you on price. Either way... still a AWESOME setup for under a G. If you wanted to shave some dollars off of this setup, look for a used 4080 box, or just go with the prefab box from ED mentioned in the "good" scenario. The 4080 box will just net you cosmetic integration, and have no bearing on SQ or output.
Best:
Zapco Reference 500.1 $593 (Retail)
Image Dynamics IDQ10v.3 $180-$200ish
4080 Enclosure $300ish? (Check with Ainslie)
This scenario nets you an overbuilt SQ amplifier (headroom and better control over the sub) with balanced inputs, an amazing sub with unreal SQ and plenty of output. All for just over a G.
Thanks for the props on the install. My setup is not all that expensive as far as competition setups go. Doing the install myself saved a ton on labor.
Retail for my stuff (never pay retail, but ALWAYS go authorized):
Zapco DCReference 1000.4 X 2: $1350 ea
Alpine W200: $900
Alpine H701: $400
H701 Controller: $250
Dyn 362: $1300
Elemental 13Ov.2: $200
4080 Box: $300
Misc Install stuff (deadening, wiring, fusing, blocks, etc): $1000
$7050 Retail
I am going to be removing the 701 after MECA finals and just use the onboard processing on the amps. So you can cut $400 off of the gear right there. I will have to use the DRCSL controller for the amps, so it will be a wash with the 701 controller. Either way... that brings it well under $7000 for the gear.
