Re: Remote start?

Bad idea. There are really on two reasons to have one: First to warm up your car engine before you drive - but studies have shown that it is much better to start driving a car gently after starting it than to let it idle for more than 20 seconds. Second, to warm up the inside of your car. It's a pretty expensive way to have a warm car - gas and engine wear, not to mention polution. Finally, I read recently of a car engine fire in a Toyota caused by a remote starter. Toyota refused to take any responsibilty.

Re: Remote start?

really?? Shoot that sucks!! I really wanted one. Yeah basically to warm up my car and just to be cool!! hahah! No you can have roll down windows. You can have that option. My friend has one on his silverado. The only thing i am worried about is someone getting the frequency of the car and jacking it! thats all. Anyone else have any comments??

Re: Remote start?

Well, to my understanding the car starts but actually cant go into gear until the key is placed. I dont konw if this is true or not, it was just what i was told by somone. Anyways, can I pull up my windows from the remote that comes with the G35. (i dont have the premium package) and is there a way to pull down ALL windows with the remote (without the premium package)? becuase i can just roll down my front two right now.

Can i purchase somthing for this?

Re: Remote start?

i believe that if you get the remote start you can roll down all the windows. No you can't roll down all the windows with the remote key start. Also there is no way that you can roll the windows up with the remote.

Re: Remote start?

Well i have the normal g35 (no premium package) and i can pull the front two windwos down with the remote, but not up. I heard with the premium package you can pull all four windows down.

is this true?
if so, can i add a module to pull all windows down?

Re: Remote start?

I believe NO auto manufacture condones the use of car starters.
I read somewhere that Canadians put in more car starters than anywhere else in the world. Looking in any mall parking lot in Edmonton, I'd have to say it's probably true. Starter antennas mounted on lots of cars, even crappy cars like old Neons, Cavaliers, etc.
I agree with martinss. Not a good way to warm up youor car, even in the frozen North. Many instances of improper install that allows the car to start up IN GEAR! Some headlines over the years reading "Auto-cold start feature starts car in garage overnight. Family never wakes up. All die of CO poisoning!"
BTW, most car starters will not let you drive off without a key in the ignition, some sort of safety interlock or something. Not sure how they get around the 'chipped key' in the G to enable start.
