Question Upgrading Door Speakers!

I am not much of an audio guru, so I need some help. I have a 10" sub as well as a dvd touchscreen headunit hooked up. I am looking to upgrade the current door speakers (non-bose).

I am having trouble finding the exact size of the speakers? Does anyone have recommendations of badass speakers to install that around the $100/pair (good quality and can bump without blowing)? Also, what size speakers should I be looking for, and what's the difference between regular speakers and component?

The front door speakers are 6 1/2 inch component speakers (separate tweeter.) 6 3/4 inch speakers will probably fit too. ^ 1/2 inch speakers don't really bump much, no matter waht brand. That's what the sub is for. You should also get a pair of MDF spacers for the door speakers to space them out from the door.

To me, the speakers that get you the most bang for the buck are the Infiniti Kappa Perfect 6.1. With the MDF ring and dynomating the door, the play very well and are relatively inexpensive on eBay. It is also something that is very very easy to install yourself. There are plenty of DIY for speaker installations on this board. Just keep in mind what sounds great from someone else may sound like crap to you. Every speaker sounds different in every car.

If you are using stock non bose stereo, search around to find the OHM rating of that unit. I know the bose was 2ohms, not sure what the non bose is.

Those are coaxial (or coax) speakers and will work for the rear side panels, but you need component speakers (also called separates) for the front door.

These are component speakers that will work in the front doors.

it means you have 4/3/or 2 speakers build into one.
lets say a 3 way will have one for low, one for mid, one for high sound.

I am having a hard time understanding the difference between a 500/1 amp and a 500/5 amp.

I have a JL audio 500/5 amp, with a Kenwood DDX7015 headunit, memphis audio 10" sub and stock door speakers hooked up to it. I am planning on upgrading the door speakers, will the amp have enough power?

What exactly does 500/5 mean? DOes that mean it only has 100watts for each component hooked up to it? As in, the max power my sub is getting is 100watts, or can you divide the power to each component separately (sub gets 300, headunit 100, each speaker 50 --example)?

Here is a link to the Manual for your amp.
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/pdfs/7208.pdf

According to the specs in the manual, you should have plenty of power for the front speakers.

I've taken the advice of a lot of people on this board and ditched the rear speakers when listening to music. The only time I use the rear speakers is when I am watching a movie.

The 500/1 in a one channel amp rated at 500 watts. The 500/5 is a 5 channel amp that is 500 watts spread out between the 5 channels, but not equally.

Rated Power Front Channels: 100 W RMS x 2 @ 1.5 ohm-4 ohm (11V-14.5V)
Rated Power Rear Channels: 25 W RMS x 2 @ 1.5 ohm-4 ohm (11V-14.5V)
Rated Power Subwoofer Channel: 250 W RMS @ 1.5 ohm-4 ohm (11V-14.5V)

The 500/5 is fine if you upgrade the door and side speakers, if you go with rear speakers.
