I hardwired my V1 to the mirror.

Works just fine.

Escort 8500 +50, Mikes mount, invisicord. Slick, simple, works.

V1 is the only detector to have. I've owned 3 of them over the years. My latest unit is the best yet. It has incredible false alarm rejection and it's range is unbeatable. Get the V1!

Which V1 do you have exactly? I've never heard of these features on any V1s.

That's a mistake you might end up regretting. V1 FTW!

maybe, but for the $ I think the 8500 is a better bet, I found one for like $248 shipped on ebay brand new 1 yr warranty. Probably go with that, since that still saves me another $85 over best buy!

I'm sure you will be happy. The x50 is a great detector with exception of it's laser performance which is pretty bad. Then again, usually if you are hit with laser it's too late. I've had 2 experiences with my V1 picking up laser from another vehicle being targeted.

How did you know the other vehicles were being targeted; was it b/c the other vehicles were were pulled over and not you?

I have the x50. I mounted it behind the mirror and hardwired it to the fuse box using the remote harness kit. You can't see it from inside the car unless you are in the passenger seat. I also ran an extension from the LED to my temperature console display in the center of the dash. You don't see anything unless the detector goes off.

I am using a Passport 8500. I purchased it from a friend when he upgraded to a V1.
I have it in a pouch strapped to the underside driver side sunvisor. Can't see it from outside the car, it's completely stealth. I don't have to mess with putting it away or a visible windsheild mount when I park. I have the hardwire kit running under the interior trim and tapped into the driverside power outlet.
This is the only radar detector I've owned, but I'm very happy with it's performance.

Valentine 1 seems to be the best on the market.
