Joe, thanks for the pics! It looks like cutting them isn't an option. Anyone know the paint code for willow? Maybe it won't look that bad with the graphite ends. Especially if you use "black face" double din components.

I agree..... looking at the pieces you would potentially cut, you would be able to see where you cut and glues them. I would try painting them first. Try asking your local Infiniti service dept. or go to home depot and have them try to match your willow interior. That sucks man. Maybe it will look ok with the black ends?????

I finally got my system in after canceling the Alpine HD which is still in quality assurance [after they announced the unit in Jan. 2003, heh]. Anyhow, the black on the corners doesn't impact imo the willow interior and the black AC buttons match the Alpine and now open bottom pocket. See pics below.

LOL! Definitely not! I'm gonna try the cut and glue method. It's a tight fit, so I don't think I will have a problem with the vents coming loose. The little "spacers" on the A/C controller are also graphite, but they aren't that noticeable against the willow buttons.

Painting them would probably be the best bet, but finding the matching color might be tricky. I painted mine, but it was just an off-the-shelf color which didn't really match very well. I'm going to try to find somewhere that does spray paint color matching so I'll have some ready the next time I have to take my dash apart.

I lack the patience to go with the painting. Plus I really don't want to deal with the "off" color if I get it wrong. Just a quick nip/tuck and I'm done. I'll post pics when I'm done. For better or worse ;p

Re: Look what $401 gets you!!!!

Just came back from Home Depot to have it computer color matched. $9 for a quart. As the guy was mixing it, he asked what it was for. I told him a car interior. He smirked and then gave me a sarcastic good luck. Bastard.

In the can it looks more grey than the brownish-willow color. He put a dab on the lid. When it dried, it does look rather close. I'll paint the edges tonight hopefully. Then I'll sand it smooth tomorrow. We'll see how it goes. Also, while most of the interior is flat, if you look closely at the vents, they have a sparkle to them. I don't know if they added flakes to the paint, or they put on a thin clear coat. If I get the ends to be a flat color, then I'll be satisfied. No need to go the extra sparkle for just the dinky ends.
