Just got my v35 "dash it" parts from J's Garage today!

They sent it out 2/9...got it today 2/12! 3 days shipping..you must be kidding me....must be b/c Hawaii is close to Japan.

Anyway, here are some pix of the parts for reference. I can't wait to rip apart my dash .....

I already have top o the line Panasonic deck I plan to install but check this out too! oooooh....tempting...what's another $1400?!?!
Would fit so nicely in that double DIN!

So this is everything we need if we don't have the OEM NAV but have the titanium interior pieces?

Yup! well actually you dont need to get the dash pocket or blank..the japanese ones are kinda small and look weird..your local installer probably has better ones.

What exactly is the dash pocket? Is that for if you are only using one of the din slots and need something to fill in the other one?

BTW, I love how the box says fragile and handle with care, yet it looks like someone sat on it.

Wouldn't you want just the blank or the pocket, but not both?

 

yea you dont need both...or really neither....the one I got with my dash was too small and left a gap between my iva-d900 and itself...plus it just looked weird...so I took it out and got one from my installer..!

yeah, you don't need both, one or the other. I just got both to try them both out for fit. I will probably use the free dash pocket I got from Crutchfield when I ordered my deck.

People like that Pioneer unit or the Alpine one.
Other people say save the money and get the GPS Pilot 3 for navi...cheaper.....better.
I chose not to do nav since its not greatly supported here in Hawaii...
It just depends on what you want. I don't want the temptation to put a DVD in the G since it will potentially detract from my attention from the road. The last thing I want to do is drive off into the lava that lines majority of the highways here on the BIg Island.

 

I have a factory Sirius receiver...so i guess none of this stuff will work? Pingo

You must be kidding that there's lava lining the highways. I haven't been to the big island since the 1987 when we went for a college graduation celebration. I remember walking about 150 feet in from the road and seeing slow-rolling black lava crust and occasionally the crust cracking and you could see the red lava. It felt like we were in an oven. Some other tourist threw a Coke can onto it and it burst into flames! You don't want to see that happening to your G!
