NAV normally up or down?

NAV normally up or down?
Just curious...for those of us with nav, we obviousely aren't always using it so I'm debating on whether to keep it normally in the up postion or down position.
I haven't had my car that long but I still can't decide which way I perfer. It's either the clean, elegant look with nav down or the high-tech, colorfull look with the nav up and the daytime map backround set to black. I also like the analog clock when nav is down but that hump on the top of the center stack bothers me for some reason when nav is down.
Just wondering what others do...

Always up, unless I park in the ghetto. I find it handy now because I just moved here, and it's nice to know where I am in relation to landmarks I know, etc. Lets me learn this city a LOT faster.

Re: NAV normally up or down?
I leave mine up all the time. I only close it when I am parked on the shady part of town. The NAVI gets a lot of attention when I am on the road. People pull up and ask ?? about it all the time.

Re: NAV normally up or down?
Always up! I also put it down when I am parked in a shady area. The nav besides looking cool has become another instrument to me. Just like my speedometer I look at it all the time to see how far to the next exit or which road is comming up next. The downside is that I've become dependent on it meaning If I dont have it I tend to zone out and miss an exit lol. Oh well Guess this means I need a nav system for the rest of my life. Damn life is tough!

Re: NAV normally up or down?
Why is there no clock on the NAV when it is displaying the fuel economy? It looks like there was a spot drawn in for the clock, but it was never put there. Its on the map screen. Not a big deal, but pretty annoying, since the NAV blocks the analog clock. I like looking at distance to empty and fuel economy etc.
Too bad it doesn't have fuel consumption tho. On my other car, when the trip computer reads 16.0 gallons consumed, thats when the car runs out of gas. I think the ECM gets this value from the fuel injector flow rate or something like that. I found that to be much more useful than distance to empty or the fuel guage. (At least on the other car)
Is there such a thing as software updates for the trip computer?

Same as above, always up unless I'm parked in a questionable area.

Always up when I drive the car,
Always down when I park it.
The only reason I close it when the car is parked is because I don't want the screen to collect dust.
