I am the chicken and the egg.

Chicken (literally) when my V1 is not in the car, I simply don't speed. I refuse to do it.

Egg when I have the V1, I'll go 10-15 over the limit everywhere except school zones (in Texas you can't take Defensive Driving to have a school zone speeding ticket removed from your record).

I think the sheer dollar amount that cops bring in from speeding tickets is proof that there are a *LOT* of speeders out there that don't own radar detectors.

I am not about to claim I know a lot about radar detectors other then the fact everyone I know use V1's and love them. I was about to get one but a friend told me it's not worth spending $$$ on a radar detector anymore and to look into radar jammers instead because the fuzz is moving over to laser which doesn't help radar detector owners.

Actually that's a good point Meth, they just started using laser here in Austin. Fortunately Austin cops only seem to use it in a couple of places and you can see them on the side of the road from over a mile away.

Anybody here have a good laser jammer? And if so, has it caused any other cars/SUVs to fly off the freeway due to jamming their cruise control lasers?

Coupe
shoot...seems my 'pro tip' did not post.

If you call V1 to order new unit and ASK them for refurb. version, you'll get it for 10% cheaper. But you have to CALL and ASK to get this offer, plus you might have to wait extra week (time varies)

Youtube.come has vids. on how diff. versions of radars work
Here's an interesting one

I was actually looking into this. I pulled out my old whistler detector after getting a ticket. I'm sure the detector is worthless today, but it makes me feel somewhat more comfortable.

Anyways, I'll definitely be looking into purchasing a V1.

http://www.escortradar.com/sr7.htm

what i have, works great, the custom install was a breeze (even though not recommended) laser jammer works great, however its illegal to own one here, so once i get hit, i shut er' off and slow the hell down, works hella good with ka k and x(maybe too good for X, damn wallgreens)

highway mode is just amazing and ive detected cops going 130(shoot me) from over a mile away, makes those long road trips.... not so long...

i would say its had probably 10 saves in the past 4-5 months, 1 laser save, the only thing that scares me are those cops who drive with their radars off
Anyone else here have the sr7?

After comparing the V1 vs the 9500i... I picked up the Escort. The voice alert and the GPS false lockouts are sweet.

The V1 actually offers a carrying case. WTF do you need a carrying case for? It is big, but crap!

An important thing to consider is the fact that the 9500i is "upgradeable". They say that, and then say that's it's coming soon. Well, at least it's upgradeable. Whatever that means. All I know is that I have a USB port on the thing, whether it'll ever serve a purpose or not, I have no idea.

I love the thing though.
