Aftermarket H/U in 08

I read a good bit and searched for what i was looking for but i couldnt really find a good answer. Im about to pick up an 08 with navi. I currently have a system consisting of morel, focal and alpine equipment. Now Ide really like to have that same qaulity in the g, except im not sure if can use an aftermarket headunit on the 08 model. Does that navigation and controls on the top have anything to do with the radio controls? If i can, i read about the nissan adapter for the radio but i just wanna know if i can make my life a whole lot easier by hooking up a new system with a high end headunit and rca's rather than going the LOC route. I assume if i can use an aftermarket h/u i would need some type of adapter plate for the dash to accomadate it?

I don't know anything about installing an aftermarket HU in an 08, but it might be helpful if you tell us what model of 08 you're looking at?

don't go with bose if you plan on upgrading the audio at a later time its a waste of money... However i am not sure if there is an 08 dd kit out for the sedan yet i believe there is though I would contact Jason@RiverSide he should be able to help you out

IMO, if you want to or have to keep the stock HU, the Bose isn't a bad deal because it already outputs a low level signal and all the wires are already run to the trunk.

saw an 08 G and altima up front and close in the nashville airport this weekend. (car dealer advertisement) both look sweet, makes me want to go get an 08 now! lol.

the central HVAC looks a bit complicated b/c it looks like they did a complete overhaul of the central console. Don't know how a DD unit might fit in there. Everything in the stock setup looks very flowing, sleek and aerodynamic...an aftermarket HU might look a bit out of place. Does anyone know if they changed Clarion vendors for the HU, I'm sure they stuck w/ Bose for the amp and sub speaker set. I'm hoping , after all the negative customer feedback, that they aren't using the crappy stock Nissan speaker setup again.

interesting start to an 08 thread DD conversion.....

Thats kinda why i want to go with the Bose. Incase there isnt anything out at this time, at least i could easily tap into the wires going to the amp. By looking at it, it appears as if the a single din unit could be fabbed up in that area. Might be kinda funny having a DD indash with 2 screens up front haha

If I had an 08 with the integrated screen, I'd just keep it and tap into the audio signal to power a new amp, speakers, and sub.

Yea i just realized the screen is integrated with the radio as well. I have focal and morel highs so far. Im going to get a single idmax 12, a new amp and maybe a eq of some sort so i can tweak the signals so i can have alittle more control over the bass levels.

Anybody know the dimensions of the bose amp? I wanna see if i can find an amp to fit in that space.

Haha i thought about that too. Realized that would look stupid and if it would work i would just go the single din route.

how would converting the ac work? Unless there is a JDM v35 DD or single DIN dash trim finisher, this will be a tough conversion to aftermarket without having to do some creative fabrication.
