Alarm question
Alarm question
Ok, i have an 06 coupe 5AT with the premium pkg/Intelli key. I want to upgrade the alarm system b/c it doesnt do anything if someone breaks in. Thing is, i want to keep the intelli key features and be able to walk up and leave the fob in my pocket. What alarm system out there will let me do this? I dont mind having another fob/pager in my pocket...just as long as the intelli key works.
Any suggestions? and if anyone has this kind of set up lemme know

+2 for Compustar. I have the 2W900FM in our '04 Maxima and like it so much that it's also in my Eclipse GTS. I've owned several DEI products in the past (DEI ownes almost all the other brands - Viper, Python, Clifford, several others) and they just don't compare. Compustar range is phenominal and they have numerous models to choose from. The 2WSS models have the longest range although I'm impressed enough with what I have.
Your installer will likely use a bypass module from DEI even if they install a Compustar alarm. DEI and others have recently introduced nissan/infiniti modules that don't require consuming a key, or in your case an I-Key. Not a bad idea to ask for a nissan specific bypass considering the cost of extra keys, even through ebay. I used a standard bypass on both cars which required consuming keys that I bought through ebay and programmed at the dealer.

OP - Sorry, after re-reading your original post, I realized that I went off in a direction that you weren't even asking about. Remote start/security systems typically have to consume a key in a hidden bypass box order to fake the car into thinking a real key started it. You were asking about security rather than remote start security systems.
If the door is opened while the alarm is armed the OEM alarm will go off.
You can add single stage sensors fairly easily to the OEM alarm, and do a few other 'cheap' things to make the OEM system a bit more secure. You may want to investigate this option before you drop the cash on a full featured alarm.

so i can just add sensors to the OEM alarm? where can i get a hold of these sensors or w/e and what other "cheap" things are you talking about? would be better if i could do this and not spend more on a full alarm
You can add single stage sensors by wiring them in with your hood pin. When the sensor is triggered it will make the car think the hood has been opened, so the alarm will go off.
Then, take a look at this: https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-video-electronics/136819-oem-security-system-upgrade.html This is the quickest way to improve the effectiveness of the OEM alarm system.
