installing component speakers

installing component speakers

what does the crossover do and how do i wire it in? the speaker and tweeter is installed and it works fine but the crossover isnt installed. And my jl audio sub and amp willl be in my hands on wednesday

You may have already blown your tweeters without the crossover installed. I guess you didn't follow the directions.

u need to look at the directions. the crossover keep bass and other **** from f**king up everything. two wires come from the amp to the crossover in one slot. two go to the tweeter from another slot. and two more go to the speaker

oh shiet...lol nothing has been blown yet.....imma get it installed at the shop when i get home i guess....gonna take it apart

i would take it out as soon as you could dont turn your radio up good luck hope they r still good.

can i just leave it in there and leave the radio off or should i really take it apart

Definitely leave the radio off for starters. You need to send the right speakers the right signals otherwise you'll damage them severely. It won't hurt them with the HU off, but have a pro or educated friend check out your setup asap.

In general, crossovers separate and channel frequencies to their respective driver. High Freqs to tweeters and low freqs to woofer, thus the component setup.

A 2 way crossovers will have an input (+ and - terminals) to go from your amplifier and 2 sets of output, 1 set to the tweeters and 1 set to the woofer.

It show says on the on Xover itself or the manual of the components. If you're not sure, leave it up to the installers to prevent from damaging your drivers.

yeah, im just going to leave the radio off and let the pros do it on thursday...hopefully nothing is wrong and all will come out good
