keyless fob usable with any G?

Can the new 06/07 keyless start key fob be progammed for use with any older G?

I have a 2004 AT G35 sedan and want to replace my current key fob with the new 06/07 G35/G37 key fob. I would only use the new key fob for the "lock", "unlock", "trunk" and (to a very lesser degree) "panic" functions. I know I will still need my traditional key to start the car.

So can the new (or any nissan/infiniti) fob be programmed for use with an older model car?

obviously true.
To clarify, I'm wondering if the same DIY fob reprogramming directions for my 2004 fob will work with any (newer and older) Nissan/Infiniti key fob. Will the reprogramming instructions for my current fob (03-06) work with the newer fob (only for the functionality of the buttons)?

I've tried it, and can't get it to work . Look at this thread from my350z

http://www.my350z.com/forum/showthre...=323248&page=5

I've even sent PMs to dealer sponsors with no results.

If you can get it to work, please let me know.

I read the linked thread. All I can say is "sad". When I first got my G, I looked at the fob and thought it was a cheap aftermarket replacement. Couldn't believe what a POS came with an Infin. Still can't believe this is not a more sought after upgrade/mod possibility.

Just to be triple double sure...
You did follow the instructions here for the programming of the new "egg" fob?

Maybe it only works with the consult-II (which I don't have)...

yeah I read about that mod from lowrider's link, but I really want the look of the new Infin "egg" fob.

maybe the answer is in combining both ideas...

Lowrider, can you take the "egg" fob apart and maybe there is a way to hack the POS fob circuit board into the "egg" fob casing (like accordfreak hacked it into a mazda casing)?

Yep, the old board is larger than the new one. The batteries are the same size, and I switched those with no luck. I checked the ID Nos on the FCC site and discovered that both fobs operate on the same frequency. I have sent PMs to both our dealer sponsors, Andy at Performance Nissan and Tony at Riverside Infiniti. Andy didn't respond at all, and Tony answered that he had no idea. No help there.

can you post a pic of the new fob's circuit board?

You think there is a practical way to hack and mod the POS board to fit in the "egg" fob like accordfreak did with the mazda fob?

Well, parklife figured it out, but this solution requires skills that I do not possess. So I'm doomed to use the old POS key fob.
