Intermittent Air Conditioner

I must have the best luck in the world...lol. Got my Satellite Radio put in this past weekend and for some strange reason something told me later on to try the A/C. Well guess what, no cold air!!! The outside temperature was in the lower 60's and warm air was only coming out even with the air off. Hmmmm I thought seems Best Buy installers forgot something. Then yesterday the air started working. This morning it didn't for awhile and then all of the sudden it did. What the hell? Could it be the blend door is sticking? Has anyone else experienced this?

Sam

maybe a loose wire? I have a wire dangling right now from an alarm install which the dealer told me it most likely the culprit. I only get cold air at 60 degrees, and anything higher comes out hot. I'ma take it back to the alarm installer to get that wire plugged back in.

Thats what I am hoping for. Guess I will find out tonight when they have to get back into the dash. Its just a pain in the *** and a nuisance and my good luck this happens...lol.

Did you use the oem DD kit?
If so do you have dual climate control?

If you do they had to take off one of the buttons and move it to the new AC controls. I hope they didn't mess up anything when they did that.

There is a interior air temp sensor below the steering wheel in the panel on the right side. Make sure that is plugged in. That being unplugged will definitely make the A/C act up.

That is interesting. Didn't know that. Thank you!

I do not have dual climate control so it rules that out.

I took it in and they told me that there is one plug for the a/c and that is it. Either it works or it doesn't. A mechanic even told me that today. The installer did think it was low on R134 (approx. 1/2 lb) and maybe since its colder outside the unit had to build up pressure or some **** like that before it would blow cold air. If it continues to do this then I will mention the air temp sensor. That does make sense to me. They did work on the left side of the dash because he used the driver side cigarette lighter for power. The tuner is on the left side attached to the corner of the windshield.

Oh the installer did take out the passenger side panels and check the blend door mechanism and it is working fine. He seemed to know alot about all the mechanisms in the dash for sure. Guess it is their job...lol. He said if it continues to act up let him know. I am going to go get some coolant and fill the a/c unit.
