Rear deck speakers
For those that have installed a sub in a coupe with factory Bose. Did you take out the rear deck 6x9s when you installed your sub?
If you did is it as hard as it looks in the service manual?
I thought I'd read somewhere that it would help get the base into the cabin by removing these speakers.

Re: Rear deck speakers
Any chance you can post the diagram from the service manual for this? I was trying to take mine out this weekend, but am afraid I am going to break the speaker grills.

Re: Rear deck speakers
I'll try to post the instructions from the manual but it's several pages and involves taking out the back seat, side finishers and the rear deck finisher just to get to the speakers. There's also a part about unbolting some of the head curtain air bag harness. This is why I asked if anyone else had done this.
I was thinking of just cutting the speakers out from below. If the deck speakers are like the door speakers I don't think it'll be much work to destroy them and take them out from below.

The more I try to change the Bose system the more I really hate about it. I swear they do everything humanly possible to keep people from swapping any of it out.

Re: Rear deck speakers
I just had that done and we did remove the 2 6x9's. Doing that allows you to get great bass even from a single 8" unit. Taking them out was a pain for my installer who had to pretty much disassemble the entire rear of the vehicle. The rear seat and upper and lower cabin panels had to come out before he could even get to them.
Re: Rear deck speakers
yup. Gotta take the bottom seat cushion, rear seat back, lower and upper side panels before you can get to the screws that hold the 6x9's in. There was a write-up with pics on this a while back.
