PAC aux installed
Hey everyone,
Today the PAC auxiliary unit was installed in my G. It allows you to use your SAT button for mp3 players, avelectronic audio or anything else you can think of to integrate into your stereo system without having to use an FM modulator (or similar). I asked about a retail release date and was told it takes a few weeks from now until its ready to ship out.
Thanks again Karl and JT.

Re: PAC aux installed
tgenius,
it will work with anything that has auxiliary outputs. The installer used an MP3 player's headphone jacks. He had a Y-adapter that had headphone jacks on 1 side and 2 auxiliary on the other. Well for the install they actually took apart my center console and glove box. I do not think all that is really necessary though. Can probably get away with just pulling out the glovebox.
Achee,
1) will not be available for a few weeks at best.
2) You can have your satelite and an external
auxiliary audio managed by the SAT button. the SAT button can be depressed 2 times. One selects the satellite and the other your auxiliary input.
3)Im not sure how the volume will work with every mp3
player but the PAC rep suggested I buy the PAC TURBO
1, which amplifies low output/input if the volume is to low. When we tested
with his mp3 player (not an ipod) the volume was lower
then the CD/FM etc. I would guess volume level 30
sounded like lvl 20.
4) the sound is very clear. Well as clear as my blose
system can produce.
Buddha,
No pics sorry. I thought of pics but it wouldn't have been very exciting. I would say the box is about 5"x2"x1" with auxiliary inputs on the side.

Before any additions, the SAT button already makes use of two button presses. When pressed once, it enables the first set of six presets and tunes the channel you last listened to of these six. When pressed again, it enables the second set of six presets, etc. Press it again, and it goes back to the first set. How exactly will this function change if the AUX input is added?

Re: PAC aux installed
The AAI-NIS does not work with vehicles that have the factory SAT receiver installed. What it does is gives you two Auxiliary inputs which each one can be selected with the SAT button. Press it once and it selects Aux one on the AAI-NIS and displays SR1 on the radio display. Press it again, it will select Aux two on the AAI-NIS and displays SR2 on the radio display. Keep pressing SAT will toggle between the two Aux inputs. There is no text interface, so if you use an iPod, is does not show on the radio display. Pressing track up/dn, presets and tune up/dn only send data commands out on a wire which you can have an SWI-X connected to. You can have the SWI-X control most devices that use an infrared remote. Also there is two remote wires, remote 1 wire turns on only when in Aux 1 and remote 2 wire turns on only when in Aux 2.
As for volume wise, I tested with a Creative Rhomba which was a little low compared to the stock CD player. I used my laptop and the volume was extremely low. We tested with a mobile DVD player and the volume was pretty equal with the CD player. So depending on what kind of device you use, you may need to use a line driver like our Turbo1 to get the volume of the auxiliary device to be equal to the CD player.

Re: PAC aux installed
It's too bad they didn't have a way to have it so that SR-1 is the satellite tuner, and SR-2 is the PAC aux input. I could live without the extra set of presets. Regardless it sounds like a nice design if they incorporated the ability to use the radio controls.

Re: PAC aux installed
ALL OF THEM HAVE THE SAT INPUT, but your car doesn't have the harness that goes to the trunk of the car. No worries.
