My experience with customers bringing in refurbished items has been good. Never had any issues. Just double check to see what kinda warranty the unit has as a refurbished model.

It all depends. Sometimes they cost more than units like the D3 that have Navi built in.

The one I am getting is the Alpine IVA-W505. No navi, just a 7" DD with DVD, etc. It retails for $999. I believe Pioneer has one also for $999. Kenwood has a model for $799. All these do not have navi. They are however, 7". If you wanted to go down to 6.1"-6.5", you can get some for about $500-$750. That extra half inch or so does usually bump up the price of the unit to about $1000.

ok good to know. that and where you work may hit you up later... could go for better bluetooth than oem... the mic location sucks so i always end up yelling in my car. with the new handsfree requirement in cali, might make sense to drop a little $ for something and make the interior a bit nicer. I saw the IVA-W505 just now in another thread... looks pretty good.

Be prepared to lose all sound from your factory nav unless the person that installs the new head unit knows how to splice and sauder, from personal experience I know this.

Is the Z1 capable of playing CD's and running the Navi feature simultaneously? In other words, is the Navi on a disc or on the HDD?

Z1 is pretty old. So is the Z2. One thing I dislike about them is the long start up time.
