AVIC-D3 navigation disc?

Does the AVIC-D3 come with the navigation disc? The guy installing mine called me and told me it didn't come with one. This disc is like $250 from Pioneer and I'm just wondering if any of you bought yours with the disc included.

It should come with it. Maybe not the most recent, but it has to come with one.

Although, you can download the discs from the usual places.

The D-3 comes with two navigation discs for the two regions of the country. Your current location is always loaded.

Mine definitely didn't come with one. I got mine from Best Buy for $700 with bluetooth and all that jazz, but even the guy who installed it for me said it didn't look like it was BNIB. He said mine was packaged much different than every other AVIC-D3 they come across.

Anyway I had my installer write a note on my bill saying that it was unopened when I brought it to him and there was no disc included, which is the truth. Do you think there's anything I can do? This disc is like $250 from Pioneer.

I've known people that "purchase' things from BestBuy to get discs and such...and then return the purchase minus the discs and no ones the wiser! Disclaimer: Never did this myself

Problem is it's already installed. My shop that installed it had to use one of their discs to boot it up. So I have my receipt, a note from my installer that says the disc was not included, and a print-out of best buy's specifications for the AVIC-D3 that says the disc comes included. I don't care how long I have to wait but I'm not paying $250 for a disc after I just spent all this on the unit itself.

It sounds like Best Buy is the one who made the mistake. You need to bring it up with them asap. It'll be tough since you already had it installed, so you're going to have to hope that your Best Buy is reasonable.

Otherwise you could always download the image somewhere.

Ok, yeah I went there expecting them to not help me but they did. At first they told me that I would have to un-install it and return it to get a new one with the discs, but finally someone in the audio/video department grew a brain and said that it's not worth it. So I had them contact Pioneer and they're actually going to charge Best Buy $200 for the discs and send them to me.

Let this be an example for anyone else that might and probably will go through this.

Also for the record...

I bought a D3 in 2007 that came with 2 discs; east and west north america. I also bought a D3 this year that came with 2 updated east and west discs.

I couldnt copy the DVDs to replace the older versions, but was able to download them. You need dual layer dvds to burn them though.
