Need some sound advice!

I am not sure exactly what i want to do, but i want something that is going to be nice and something that doesn't weigh a ton. There are two routes i would like to go.

Route 1.
Keep the factory head unit and keep the factory components. If i do this can i cut the bass from the components and send it straight to a sub? If i get a sub i want something nice and clean and not rediculously loud. I like the 10w6v2, but not sure what kind of amp i will need to power it. If i do go with the 10w6 will the 300/2v2 be enough to power the sub?

Route 2.
Should i just replace the component speakers with nice ones (JL ZR series)? Will that give me more bass than the stock ones? I looked into the ZR component speakers and they are very nice, but how much improvement in bass and clarity are they going to provide over the stock bose system? JL also doesn't make a ZR 6x9, so if i did replace just the components what should i use for 6x9's? What kind of amp will i have to get if i replace just my components?

Thanks for any input!

-Sean

you didn't state what system you have, but since you mentioned the 6x9's, I'm assuming you have the Bose system since the non-Bose doesn't have 6x9's.

To answer scenario #1, look here at this sticky to add a sub. https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-video-electronics/101293-diy-add-sub-your-bose-equipped-g35-coupe.html

To answet scenario #2, you won't get subwoofer bass by replacing the stock Bose speakers. For one, the Bose speakers are 2 ohm and most aftermarket speakers are 4 ohm. You will need 2 ohm speakers.

Or you can add a 5 channel amp, a 4080 enclosure, 10 inch sub and new component speakers up front and coaxials in the rear side speakers and run it all off of the OEM HU. You can disconnect or remove the 6x9s.
