Re: avic - n1 installed!

I noticed that your avic is much more recessed in the center console than mine is. Did you do any modifications to it?

Re: avic - n1 installed!

Nice Install.. had mine done last week.. I love except for ONE big thing for me! Can't Disc Title regular CD's. You can do it for CD-R's you burn on your PC but not for the ones you pick up at the record store. I e-mailed Pioneer and asked about it to make sure I wasn't overlooking something and they confirmed that you can't disc title original CD's.. big time bummer

Re: avic - n1 installed!

Can you confirm exactly which wire you tapped into for the speed detection? Also, how did you hook up the bottom head unit to the avic, through the aux or directly with ip-bus?

Re: avic - n1 installed!

See.......I like this mount of the AVIC n1 in the lower doubleDIN slot better than achee's stock navi cubby fabrication mount of the AVIC. It looks less obstrusive lower and more flush mounted. IMO of course.

great install, did you do it yourself?

Re: avic - n1 installed!

thax guys!
i enjoy it so much....but
this thing won't play VCD...which mean if u write any MPEG
video on a CD it won't play..!
for asian ppl VCD is a huge thing!!!
all movies and MV are in VCD (cos VCD sell for cheap price!)
it is like $5 a movie in VCD
don't understand y they didn't make it able to play?
the avh-6500 and avh-7500 play VCD!
the N1 don't ...crazy!
so stupid...i pay so much it won't play everything!!!
anyway... i will need to buy a vcd player and hook it up
to the aux that are on the brain unit...

other then that this thing is great...
the speed sensor and g force thing is cool!
the navi works great!
i will have some new pic post up tomorrow!

Re: avic - n1 installed!

answer question time!

crashTestDummy
u win an eye

i didn't do any modifications on the dash...
it just happen that way..

for the speed sensor..i donno
cos i didn't install it..
when the shop install my N1 i was there for part of the time
they told me they didn't connet the reverse wire and the speed wire ...
but for some reason..the speed thing on the tv and all the other functions work perfect! suppose the speed wire not connet the speed thing won't work !
they said that they dont have the service manuel can't figure out the wire!
i will go back and ask the installer again about this!!!
i still have the 2 wires in box new!

for the bottom head unit...
i brought a thing call RCA to IP-BUS interconnector
the model number is CD-RB20
i brought it in a hurry so..it cost me $100CND included tax
if u want to save ur aux for a PS2
while having another deck to play cd during Navi
buy this ..
it will save u the aux on the brain for PS2
i remember this connector cost around $35US if u have
time to buy it on the web! seach CD-RB20 on yahoo
do it it sound good!

finally ..i did the install in BoomPlusToys
they did a great job
the gps install nice(pic of it soon)
they are nice guys they ran the RCA wires for me too...
so i don't need to take dash apart when i install amps
if u install DIY remember get the RCA hook up
save u big time also hook up the remote wire too!
ask for Morris www.boomplustoys.net
they are in canada vancouver!

they also install the alam for me!
work great..it is not a high end alam but i think is enough
they put the led on the other of the factory led
look great pic soon!

next mod
amps
alpine MRV-F540 and MRD-M500

front speaker
alpine SPX -177R (not out yet but will buy for sure)

Back seat speaker
alpine SPR-176A

rear deck 6x9
factory bose

sub
two alpine type R 10" 2+2 ohm
or ( still thinking )
two alpine type S 10" 2+2 ohm

i will keep u guys update on the system
all the amps subs and speakers will be done by 2 weeks!

this time DIY!!!

Re: avic - n1 installed!

You should go back and have them install the speed sensor and reverse wire. The reverse wire is easy, it's a purple/silver wire in the rear. Easy to access to if you remove the trunk liner. The speed sensor is more important. If you don't hook it up, your gps will be less accurate and you won't be able to use the advanced features of the AVIC-N1. Thanks to mvorion, I reconnected mine and it works great. It's the white/green wire that's on one of the two connectors you don't use. This connector has four wires: red, yellow, green, white/green.

Re: avic - n1 installed!

i am curious as to where you mounted the aux input hideaway box.

Where is the best/most convenient place to mount this?

Hi, if you dont mind me asking, how much did the unit itself cost you in Canadian dollars?

Thanks
