In dash Nav decks

Old thread, but not sure if you're still looking. There is one route you can go, but it might be too expensive. In my Accord I had Alpine W200 head unit and bought the Alpine Blackbird (PMD-B100) portable GPS and got the car dock for it and was able to use the navigation through the DD unit. The navi on that unit is fair. The new update helped alot, but Infiniti's navi is much better, though the lady is annoying at times.
Alpine also has the W205 out and with the W505 being out you can find the 205 cheaper now. With the 205 you can get the 2nd version of the Blackbird and press the eject button to insert a CD or the actual GPS unit. The GPS on the 2nd version is supposed to be better, but I haven't used it myself.
The only thing about the W200 and the W205 is that it doesn't give you much to do with the head unit unless you have a processor (like the PXA-H701) to go with it.

I installed a DNX5120 in my car, which is one of the cheaper flash based nav systems out there. The Nav is by Garmin, so the UI is great. Here's the thread about it:

The NAV isn't bad, but not great. It is however the only unit that I have found so far that will sync my contacts with my iPhone. My previous Pioneer D3 would connect (via bluetooth), but would not upload my address book. Overall I'm pleased with the W205/Blackbird combination.
