Important USA-SPEC PA11-NIS Info From Tech Support

Never seen this problem covered anywhere else, so here it goes. Sorry if old.

I've been having an issue with my PA11-NIS where 10 seconds into each track, a hissing sound would be heard on my speakers.

I finally got the USA-SPEC tech support number and called them. Using an IPOD Video (in direct mode), there's a flaw where the charging circuitry introduces more noise when the background lights turn off. Mine was set to 10 seconds, hence the hissing 10 seconds into each song.

Once I set my ipod background illumination to stay on permanently, the hissing sound never came back.

I didn't run into this problem on my ipod nano (older non-video type), only my ipod video.

So if you're an owner of a PA11-NIS, keep this tip in mind when using an IPOD Video (Ipod classic and non-video ipods are unaffected. Not sure about new NANO, IPHONE, or IPOD Touch).

So remember, to improve your sound quality, set your IPOD background illumination to stay on permanently.
