Can I still mount it somehow and bring it into the stock system?

Thanks

05 and up G's don't have a SAT button. You have to cycle through the inputs with the "radio" button.

Thank you both for clarifying this, I will check the wiring in the trunk later today, and see if I have the place to install it.

As for the DD conversion kit, I got another email from Yoshi, and he states that Prices went up from June, but so steep???

Hello, Benedek Frank san. How are you today?

Hello, Benedek Frank san. How are you today?

Thank you for asking, but the price of the Nissan parts was greatly revised in June...

If we can do anything for you or you have any questions, please don't hesitate to let us know.
We are looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely yours,
J's Garage Export Co., Ltd.
I guess I am diving in to this later this year, as I just forked out all this money for the car and insurance, etc. Here in UAE, you need to pay upfront for the year of insurance you are acquiring. What a mess really.

Anyways, I am thinking about going only for the iPod update for now. Do you know if it works with iPhones also? I dont have a regular iPod.

Would this also allow me to answer phonecalls? I am guessing not, as there is no mic in the system, or is there?

Thanks

Ben

Hi,

I found a place here in Dubai that sells the following models:

Kenwood 7032 and Kenwood 8032
Alpine IVAW202

They clain none of these units have GPS enabled, so I need to get an external GPS unit hooked up to it.

Is this valid? I wonder what this is? Maybe Pioneer and Kenwood dont make their own maps, so a unit that has GPS built in wont function?

All of these head units are between 800-1000 USD, plus another 1000USD for the GPS. Kind of expensive in my books.

Thanks

Ben

Firstly, thanks for calling me, you are a great help indeed.

The parts I got prices for came from Japan directly, and these are Nissan's prices. I am not sure if it can be any cheaper here, but its worth looking, and thanks for your help mate.

The Kenwood units I also checked here in Dubai, they are accessible, but they lack the GPS. They need an external Garmin GPS which is the only unit apparently here that has ME (Middle East) maps, and that costs even more than the HU itself. Crazy in my books.....

Anyways, I am still open for any ideas. I am unable to find any ME maps for the Pioneer units that I could just order from the US and use here.

Thanks

Ben

Hmmmm lets see if there's anything for UAE out there.

I personally want to upgrade the subs and headunit to something which has more punch and definitely a head unit with a hard drive so I can store all my mp3s!

your comment cracked me up. In fact I was laughing so hard, i started to sweat, I need to wipe it off with a couple of $100 bills

As for the NAVI, its a tough one. You need the JDM Double Din kit from Japan directly or through some American sites you can get it as well. That will set you back nicely, but like above mentioned, money doesnt matter...

On top, you need a double din head unit. Now in Europe or North America, they have GPS built in, but those units don't support ME, so we need to hook up an external Unit.

The best I found so far was at Yellow Hat, a Japanese car parts store (Time Square), a Kenwood head unit with a Garmin external GPS that hooks to the Video IN on the HU. If you combine Kenwood and Garmin, you can have Touchscreen as well.

This will set you back at least 8000 Dirhams, or 2200 USD approximately.

I am currently hunting for a cheaper unit, there has got to be a solution.

Its a shame, in the US you can just by a Pioneer HU for 700-1000 USD, and the kit and you are done.

Hi

I have done some excessive research over the last couple of days, and seems like the Kendwood 8120 is the way to go.

On a FJ Cruiser forum I found a few peoples who have successfully upgraded their Garmin maps, and since the Middle East map exists, we can go ahead and do so. The unit costs about 1200USD, plus the kit we need, and some labour.

I am more than satisfied with a DIY, if any of you would like to get together and do it as a team, that'd be brilliant.

I can order from the US through Aramex, in case you are interested.

Now we need to locate the DD kit for somewhat cheaper than the 500USD I was offered from Japan,

Cheers

I just ordered the DD kit from the US for $290 USD with shipping to Dubai.

Found it on ebay, seemed like a reputable seller.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...243054161&rd=1

Meanwhile I went to Yellow hat Japan, and they said they dont have the Kenwood 8120, so all is left is ordering.

Let me know who is interested here in Dubai to get this done together,

Cheers

Ben
