Installing my Z2 this weekend. Few questions.

Mounting the GEX-P10XMT XM/Nav-Traffic module. Where did you do this? Under the seat? In the dash? Stock trunk location? I already have an XM antenna run to the dash for my portable unit, and I don't think the IP-BUS & XM Data cable will reach from the headunit to the trunk. They're only 9'10".

Power/ground. For the IPod module, XM module, LOC, and PAC SWI-PS units, I need to connect constant power, ignition power, and/or grounds. Can I have all of them connected to the same constant/ignition/ground as the headunit? Or will that overload the power and blow fuses / melt wires? I'm soldering & heat shrinking everything. I'd just rather not have to run new wires from the battery, etc.

Thanks

I don't have any personal experience with any of the pieces you're installing, but there are plenty of places to hide the module around the passenger foot well.

If the amperage draw of those pieces is low, you can connect them to the same wires as the radio. Otherwise, you can get a couple of add a fuses from the auto parts store and add them to the fuse panel near the driver's foot.

Thanks. I'm not familiar with the "add a fuse". Will that put a new fuse in an open spot in the fuse box? Or tap off of an already existing fuse?

The new radio is fused at 10a
XM is fused at 2a
IPod fused at 2a
I'm sure the power draw of the PAC is minimal.

I don't think that's much power consumption, so I would just use the same power source for all of them.

Add a circuit plugs into an existing fuse spot and still protects the original circuit but adds a fused second power lead.

I put the XM module in the trunk by the bose amp. The cable is long enough to reach the back and also, you can ground it to the chassis if you decide to put it there. Prior to moving it to the trunk area I had it under the center arm rest but the XM reception was poor (had the antenna hidden under the dash). Since moving it to the back the radio reception is much better since I have the antenna mounted on the rear deck.

As for the power wires, I tapped into the ones on the harness and everything works fine.

Here's where I put the module. It's in the center console under the arm rest.
