I have an iPod Classic (80 GB) used with my AVIC-D3. The audio side of things works perfectly, however, I'm still struggling to get the video aspect to function even after downgrading the Ipod firmware to 1.0.2. If you can get your hands on a 5th gen Ipod video, I can confirm that the video output works on the D3.

I'm having a blast with this AVIC-D3... lol

Just for kicks, here's a few shots with some customized images on the head unit:

The neat thing is you can upload jpg images (500x240) from a CD-R to the deck for the splash screen, AV wallpaper, and Nav wallpaper. Pretty nifty!

Most definitely (and I installed the PAC SWI-PS about a week later). Works great (and wasn't that bad to install....)

Overall, the system is still working great and I'm thrilled with it. The steering wheel controls work fine and it's like have a factory touch-screen nav, DVD, XM, and iPod. (I bought an 80 gig iPod Classic and keep it in the glove box and control it through the Avic-D3).

Also, without going into great details (due to rules of the forum), I am able to watch movies, etc, while driving.

Hope that helps!

Patric

Hey sourcepro, I got a qstn. Which wire in the g35 did you connect the AVIC to for the screens auto-dimming feature?

Great question.... It seems like I remember that there were two wires in play.... solid orange and orange with a white-stripe. I couldn't find anyone that could tell me for sure, so I didn't worry about it. (In other words, I just taped those two wires back).

Now, when it's daylight and I don't have my lights on, the Avic is the same brightness as when it's dark out and my lights are on. I haven't found this to be an issue and you can adjust the display brightness easily from the unit.

If you ever find out for sure which wire is used (and what part of the Infinity harness it connects to), please post it here! :-)

Thanks
