Differences in bose sound systems?
I rode in my friend's 2003 g35c today, and to my utter shock he had bass, he said he had a stock subwoofer and was shocked after I made him listen to mine.
When I purchased my 06 g35c fully loaded, the thing that immediately disappointed me was the horrible bose sound system, my honda civic si was worlds ahead. My car has no subwoofer, is this something that used to come on g35 coupes in the past?

05-07 Premium coupes have (2) 6x9" dedicated subs in the rear deck. My 06 Bose headunit settings are flat and I can feel bass in the lower ranges (35-40hz or so) on the songs that go that low. My rearview mirror will also do the vibration thing with the right song. I'm very familiar with what (2) 12's sound like and this is no-where near that level, but it is still very acceptable for an OEM setup.
The first thing I would do is play a song that you know has a deep bass-line and position your ear directly over one of the 2 rear deck subs. It should be very apparent whether or not they're working.

Non-Bose coupes don't have the 6x9s and non-Bose sedans don't have the center sub.

1. add sub - adds base, decent upgrade depending on quality of sub/amp combo.
2. swap out speakers but keep stock HU - definite improvement in sound quality.
3. #1 + #2 while still keeping stock HU - now you're talking....
4. #1 + #2 + DD conversion with aftermarket HU - the gold standard.
alternatively, what some people incorrectly do IMO, is to keep the stock components and do a DD conversion with aftermarket HU first... decent upgrade with cool looks but then again, you're still driving the crappy stock Nissan speakers.
only my $0.02 from my past experiences....

Yeah, the aftermarket HU would be the last thing I would want to upgrade simply because of the features you would lose such as bluetooth and steering wheel controls perhaps?
So theres 6x9 in the back, 6.5's in the doors and what about the small speakers in the doors? What are some good common speakers to upgrade to? Is there a good direct replacement amp for the speakers only?(not sub)
