I am running a 1000/1 and 2 12W6V2's. I have an Optima Red Top and 2 Farad cap. However I have thought about and I am going to upgrade to bigger alternator. I've always done so in the past on my other cars because I am a big audio fanatic. It's so much easier to do in Civics/Tegs though...lol.

With that amp I don't see it as being necessary to upgrade to an HO alt. Alternator's are quite expensive, they are about 300-400, maybe even 500 for a 200A alt. If you're not drawing that much current, it really isn't necessary. The 1000/1 wouldn't need an upgraded alt IMO.

If you want a good battery, I'd recommend going with the Odyssey PC 1200. It's a little smaller than the stock battery, but MUCH more powerful. I used to have a Kinetik HC 1400 and the PC 1200 is a better battery. Voltage didn't drop as much and it maintained more constant voltage. I was actually searching the other day for the PC 1200 and found a site for 192 shipped, which is a great deal.

I'm wondering if the PC 1500 would fit, but it might be too long. If it does fit, I'd get that instead. But running about 1k of power won't really require an HO alt, especially if you are playing your music at a conservative level, not blasting it all the time. I have friends with Optimas and they like em, others have moved away from them. Kinetiks are good batteries but better for competition since the vehicle is off. Hawker/Odyssey/Stinger are all made by Enersys and are excellent daily batteries. With that and the Big 3, you should be fine.

Don't worry about dimming, be more concerned about voltage. If you're staying around 13V while the vehicle is running and hitting low or current drawing notes, then you are fine.

www.qualitypowerauto.com (I used theirs for my Accord).

And another one recently I've heard of http://www.mechman.com/alt.htm

I've also had friends use Excessive Amperage and had great success. http://www.excessiveamperage.com/
