Many users here have placed it in the arm-rest on the back seat. It simply involves taking out the first aid kit....

I used the top most glove box with some modification. This way I have access to it when I need it if I should want to change the DVD during a ride.

Get a 10 disc DVD changer and place it in your trunk. That way you don't have to worry about changing disc.

Re: Best place to put a DVD player?

i would get one mounted under the glovebox where the black foot panel is

1) you can access it from the inside of the car. no need to go to the trunk.
2) wiring it to the nav screen will be super-easy.
3) you can use a regular dvd-remote to control the movie that is playing.

Re: Best place to put a DVD player?

I'm in the process of putting my DVD player in my center console of my 04 coupe. When you lift up the arm rest it will sit right there. My first attemp I took the DVD player apart and just tried to mount the guts, with just a fiberglass panel covering it with a slot cut out. Unfortunately I didn't line it up perfectly and it messed up the motor and I had to get a new DVD player. This time, I am mounting it vertically with the original front on it. The only problem is that the air bag controller is in the way and will have to be moved slightly to get the needed depth. I'll post pics if I ever get it done....

Re: Best place to put a DVD player?

Well we have an armrest in the backseat. I can't seem to find mine. I saw the red button in the center of the back seat and thought this was a release for the armrest, but this seems to pull the whole seatback down. I'll have to look again.

I think the Sedans have armrests, the Coupe's don't. I guess they figure people getting stuck in the back of a Coupe are getting the shaft anyway, why bother with an armrest?

Re: Best place to put a DVD player?

I installed mine under the glove box. Like Ramborami said, it was very easy to hook up to the AVelectronic box and power because it is close to everything.
It's pretty easy to access from the drivers seat, but I have yet to spend over 2 hours at a time in the car so I have not needed to swap movies while driving.
Like previously mentioned, the remote control works directly on the player, so there was no need to install a remote sensor.
One thing I did not like was seeing the player hang down below the glovebox in plain view. I went to the local fabric store and bought some vinyl just about the same color as the willow interior. I cut a strip about 3 inches wide and 2 feet long or so and used velcro to secure it under the glove box across the entire underside of the passenger dash. It hangs down like a small curtain just low enough to cover the DVD player. It's not perfect, but most people looking from outside the car never catch that it is not part of the car's interior . . . and it certainly beats the look of the DVD player just hanging down there. If you have black interior you could match the color even closer and probably make the curtain almost invisible.

Or to give it a more professional look, so the fabric isn't AT ALL wavey or wrinkled in spots.... is to just mount the fabric on a piece of pressed/plywood that would fit under the glovebox - oh, about 2-3 inches I presume - whatever makes you happy. Then either velcro the wood to the front of something OR put a hinge or 2 on the top of the wood so the new "door" flips up or down.... in any case, when glueing or tightly stapling the fabric down, it won't look like a curtain. Stretching the fabric all the way around the wood, then stapling on the back of the wood might be your best bet if you just want the front to look good.

Re: Best place to put a DVD player?

what about the infrared sensor on the dvd-player.... how would the dvd-player receive the signal from the remote?

I think the best alternative would be to get black cloth or vinyl, no matter what color interior you have, and a black dvd-player, that way you can cut a hole where the infrared sensor resides... and it wont look too obtrusive!

i win!
