wiring a sub to a sub box

I'm a noob and don't know what to do. I've got my JL 10W3v2 and want to mount it to my subbox, but I can't figure out what wires to connect where. There is a positive and negative wire coming from the sub box, and a small wire to be connected from 1 end of the sub to another end. (this is how it was set up in my old box). now how do I plug it in? I've got 2 connections at the top of the sub and 2 at the bottom. Do I plug the positive on the top and negative on the bottom and then use the small cable to connect the remaining top to the remaining connection on the bottom?

The way you wire the sub will depend on your amp and whether is can handle low imedances (lower om numers). It will also depend on the impedance rating of your dual voice coil sub.

More info about the amp and the sub are needed.
