Another mounting of the Xenarc - Pics
OK, I know this has been done before, but I have not it done in this way. First a description of what I did.
First I cut down the housing of the display so it fits in the cubby opening.
On the back of the display there is a channel, cut off the bottom so that you can slide a bracket up in it.
Next remove the cover of the cubby hole (4 screws total, then use a slot head screwdriver to pry it off (not sure how to describe this step much better, pm me with questions)).
Next drill a hole in the piece that remains attached to the cubby.
Finally insert a bolt into the hole. I then used a lock washer and a nut to hold it in place. Then on the very end put something that can slide in the channel on the back of the display and lock it in place (glue, lock washer, etc...).
To put the display in you slide the channel down over the bracket you installed. If you got the bolt length just right the bottom of the display will hit the rubber grommets on the bottom and the lip of the lid simultaneously producing a nice tight fit. You can also drill holes in the bottom of the display that will fit over the rubber grommets for a better fit (by the way, before you do this open the case cuz I didn't and I killed my display :-(
Anyway, if you got questions pm me, and here are some pics.
Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

Wiring hasn't been done yet (using a temporary laptop until I get the computer finished). However the plan is to put a small hole in the edge of the cubby near the top back center and pull the wires through there then route them behind the dash, computer will probably be in the glove box where the nav system would be. I am going to put the hole in the cubby near the top so I don't have any problems with putting things in the cubby and having them fall out the bottom.

Re: Another mounting of the Xenarc - Pics
Not with this installation. Most times I park in a real safe area so I don't worry about it, when I park in the city or something I just take it down and glove box it with the V1.
I tried to come up with an automatic retraction device for months and couldn't come up with anything easy so I gave up and settled for this.
