Controlling car PC?

I've got a 7" touchscreen so I don't need a keyboard and mouse, but was wondering about switching out of the DVD player back to windows? Using winDVD, I right-click and go to exit. But how to go about this without a mouse? What other options are there?

hmm good Q...

can you double-tap the screen? most media players allow you to double click on the screen to go into Full-Screen mode, and vice-versa

P.S. windows allows you to control the double-click speed in your mouse settings, you may want to slow this down a bit so that it has enough time to recognize your finger's double-tap
Edited by ramborami on 05/17/04 09:28 PM.

Get a remote control or program your steering wheel controls or some other button to perform the key combination to switch your dvd player to windowed mode.

Well, the steering wheel controls I'm going to keep for the radio. But I've never used a remote control. Is that basically a wireless mouse in your hand? Can i sit in my driver's seat and play solitaire with that?

I don't follow you regarding frodoplayer. Is there a list of features so I can see what it has to offer as opposed to using other apps?

I hate WMP. But this seems more organized. I do prefer to use iTunes, but I'll give frodoplayer a shot. Thanks!

frodoplayer is pretty good.... it has a small share of issues, especially the slider bar. Even with the new arrows, it's not my favorite. That or mediaengine is easily the best in my opinion though.

Definately a great app considering it's free. Once I determine exactly which app I stay with, I'll be making a little donation though.

Re: Controlling car PC?

I just found out that double-tapping the screen during fullscreen mode brings up a mini remote on the bottom. Triple-tapping reduces the movie to normal mode which basically minimizes the app, so I can get to the other stuff.

I might try media car later on for a custom interface.
