Kenwood DDX-512 DD

I recently purchased a DDX-512 and have been itching to install it. I've been reading and searching through tons of posts about this. I'm torn between dash kits. From what I have read the Metra Kit seems to be the better fitting kit in regards to space around the HU. The problem is the buttons kill me. I'm not concerned about the $$ I just don't want the DD to look ghetto and out of place. I know the space depends on the HU so, does anyone have any photos of a DDX-512 installed in a 03-04? I would like to see any and all installs before I order a dash kit. Any direction would be much appreciated.

hey i just installed this HU in my 04 coupe. to be honest, i felt the same way at first, but i ended up getting the Metra kit off ebay, and i have to say, its really not bad at all. i will put up some pics as soon as i can, cuz it really does look pretty good. its also pretty easy to install everything, this was my first ever install of a stereo, and i got it done in a couple of hours. what took most of the time was just taking the original dash out. i actually did it last tuesday, so if you know a little about stereos, it shouldnt be a problem.

Ya any photos of the HU installed would be great thx. I feel the same way about the metra kit man. Only problem is a gap is just as sloppy to me can't deal with either. I'm willing to even get a different HU if the fitment with the jdm kit is better. I feel like I jumped the gun on the DD now I'm trying to make up for it with research. Any help would be welcomed.

everything you see came with either the radio or metra combo kit. whenever you do get it, make sure you specify the color, i have the black interior, so i ordered the black to match it. and honestly, it matched perfectly.

did you order the black kit directly from metra?

All I could find was the silver/gray

can you match up the lights on it to match our interior "amber"?

Actually, there was a gap. I had a custom plastic part made to fill it.
