Custom Install
Dropped my G sedan off this morning to have the Kenwood KVT-911 DVD/TV and Kenwood Navi installed. Expected to pick it up this afternoon, but the installer said they would have to modify the a/c main duct so it would fit in the cubby. Went over to talk to the installer and gave him the go ahead. Went in back to see my G and nearly had a heart attack!! The dash was all apart and the consloe was in the floor. The shop I am using has a reputation for being the best around, so they reassured me that I would be very pleased when the whole job was completed. Hope to get it back late tomorrow or Friday. Will post pics when I do.

Re: Custom Install
How convenient is that spot goin to be? Are you even going to be using the stock radio anymore? if so, how r u goin to get the sound into the stock? I just cant imagine dropping that much coin on an indash dvd/fm/cd player and then using an FM modulator, or even using it as a secondary source.

Re: Custom Install
Yes, I will still be using the stock Bose as it doesn't sound that bad to me. I will be using an FM modulator for the TV/DVD. The main reason I went for this setup is that I wanted a Navi system, but didn't want the screen mounted in the open. With this set-up, the motorized screen will retract and I can close the cubby cover, thus making it much less susceptible to theft. I could have gotten out a lot cheaper with a Pioneer or Alpine Navi, but I likedd the Kenwood as it is a touchscreen.

Re: Custom Install
According to the installer, it should be completely hidden. Can't wait to get it back to try it out. As I stated, the TV/DVD functions are really secondary to the Touch screen feature for the Navi. I got the KVT-911 with the TV/DVD as cheap as I could the M-700 with none of the features, other than the touchscreen.

Re: Custom Install
Finally got it back from the installer today. It was definetely worth the wait!!!!! I will post pics tomorrow. This was the first G the custom shop had done, so they wanted to take their time. They did an awesome job. Labor was $700 but they had to modify the main heat/ac duct box so that price wasn"t really out of line. As soon as my battery recharges on my digital cam. I will post pics.
