Wassup everyone,
I just saw this on Woofersetc.com and thought it might be a good deal to jump on. I've heard nothing but good things about CDT speakers and I think it's time to upgrade my Infinity Kappas.

I'm pretty sure this will fit depth wise, but are the 1" Zenclosure spacers and stock hole big enough as far as hole diameter? Also, are these components rated for 170W RMS each side or combined?
Aloha!

you better put an amp on those speakers if you're going to get them...
Remember it's better to over power a speaker than under power it.
Kappas a good factory replacement speaker but if you're upgrading to a DECENT speaker you need to give them some power

Eh, I'd pass on any CDT set.
As for underpowering vs overpowering, it all depends. Overpowering can lead to mechanical failure whereas underpowering will not. Downfall of underpowering is that you don't get the full potential of the driver.

Thanks for the input guys. As far as powering them, I was planning on getting a JL 300/2 slash amp because I don't plan on running any speakers in the rear. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting the CDTs but on the border between the on sale EFs and the HDs. Only thing the HDs are over a 100 bucks more and would I really be able to tell the difference in sound quality? Everything will be mounted in the stock speaker locations, which reminds me, are the tweeters going to fit in the stock pod without any modifications?
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

fitting tweeters: it depends on the depth of the tweeter, but in most cases they'll be fine.
if you really have a good ear for acoustics then you'll notice a difference. I noticed a difference going from the Focal Polyglass to the Focal K2s (one step above)

If you try to make the speaker work too hard (cranking it) by under-powering it you will freeze the voicecoil over time. And you won't get the full potential out of the speaker.
I've seen more cases of blowing speakers because the speaker has been underpowered than over powered.
You're right if you over-power a speaker too much (give it 300 watts when it's rated at 100) you're going to freeze the voice coil or blow the cone.

To the OP, why don't you look into Image Dynamics. CDT's are known to have plenty of reviews, both positive and negative. Many audiophiles dislike how they sound. I truly suggest going to somewhere they carry CDT's and you have a listen before buying.
Aloha guys/gals,
Well, after many days of reading forum threads and reviews, I've decided to go with the CDT HD-62Z components. The only thing stopping me from ordering them is confirmation that they'll fit within my door panel using the 1" Zenclosure spacers.
Can anyone confirm they will fit with a 1" spacer?
Mahalo!

I'm a fan of CDT components. I ran a set of HD-62 components in my '06 coupe. I think I used a 0.75" mdf spacer ring. I ran some CDT tweets in the OEM sail panel location but I can't remember if they were from the HD set or my Upstage tweets. They can be a bit bright in that location. A good alternate location would be in the A-pillars firing at the middle of the windshield.
hey Kaloman I'm pretty sure they're going to fit.
they only have a 2.75" mounting depth, so you should be alright. My focal K2s have a depth of 2 13/16 which is a lil bit deeper than yours and I think I'm running a 3/4" spacer and no issues.

pirce is good only because the mids are the only decent part
that 450 crossover is terrible and the drt 25 tweet is awful
i ran the 480 and its a bit better but you need to step up to atleast the 560
